Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has "turned out to be a nightmare for conservatives," and put some of the blame for Roberts' presence on the Court on 2016 rival Sen. Ted Cruz.
"Cruz fought like hell to get Justice Roberts in there. Justice Roberts turned out to be an absolute disaster, he turned out to be an absolute disaster because he gave us Obamacare." Trump told ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos on âThis Weekâ Sunday.
Trump repeatedly went after Cruz, who served as a law clerk for Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist from 1996 to 1997, saying Cruz supported Roberts when he was nominated to the Court in 2005.
Trump noted that Roberts had two opportunities to overturn the Affordable Care Act, which was most recently upheld by the Supreme Court last summer, adding that Roberts "gave us Obamacare. Almost as much as [President] Obama himself."
"Justice Roberts could've killed Obamacare and should've, based on everything - should've killed it twice," Trump said. "Ted Cruz is the one that was promoting him."

Yes it is.
How does Trump’s party affiliation at the time of Roberts’ nomination alter the fact of what Trump stated? Trump is stating an objective fact. Truth is truth, party affiliation notwithstanding. Got any more straw men for me to burn?
Too bad that Roberts’ decision on Obamacare will eventually take 95% of everything we’ve got.
Details on judiciary picks - perhaps you should ask him.
And people around here want Justice Roberts and his clown posse to make the final determination about whether or not Cruz is an NBC.
See post 24 ... You’re all wet - as usual.
Make that post 37 (roll eyes)
True - but we still have our firearms - and lots of ammunition. We are also much better marksmen.
Trumps sister is older then he is and is retired. She was first appointed to the federal bench by Reagan. When one of Clinton’s appointees fell thru he was forced by congress to appointed her to the appellant bench
She served in that position with Sam Alito They had identical records. She spoke for him at his confirmation hearing. They have remained friends because she is still judge emeritus and could in a dire emergency be asked to offer her opinion (unlike Sandra Day Oconnor) she refuses all interviews.
Tiffany, DTs youngest daughter is headed to law school in the fall. It’s been said she is a great admirer of her aunt and often has consulted her. aunt did not graduate from an Ivy Leage School so Expect Tiffany to do the same. MMMM ? An almost 80 year old female. Conservative judge. Way before her time.
The comment he made was to a question about her and just a shout out type of comment about how much he admired her. Yes she was one step below the SCOTUS and her name was on at least one short list.
Does that make him a pointy headed academician, as Rush might say?

Thank you hoosiermama.
See 109 too
“The man in charge is responsible for all that happened under his âleadershipâ, not a young Senator from Texas in the beginning of his term.”
Oh, OK ... BUT that same young Senator from Texas (STILL) in the beginning of his term ... is quite ready to sit in the Big Chair?
“Iâm for Ted Cruz, I wonât vote for Trump he is as egocentric as Obama, and will do anything to get his way like Obama. Me personally I value the our country to much to vote for him.”
Do you value our country enough to keep Hillary and Bernie out of the Big Chair
.
>> Do you value our country enough to keep Hillary and Bernie out of the Big Chair? <<
.
That is Ted Cruz’ job and he is on track to do it quite well.
.
I was unaware that Cruz was found to be an enabler fighting for Roberts chair on the SC. Remember Roberts in front of congress when when the selection committee was questioning; and remember the brouhaha that followed when the committee made Roberts’ wife cry, she being so upset about the questions which were asked. As for as Cruz being an instrumental part -that fact escaped me. TRUMP is right about Roberts - the justice is not our friend. And if Cruz did enable him that I am unable to commit as truth as facts are unknown.
Thanks for the ping! :-)
WHAT?! You do not like the fact that Goldman & Sachs - whose $89 billion in assets is leveraged 549X (As of 12/31/2013) having $53.5 TRILLION in notional derivative liabilities ( http://www.occ.gov/topics/capital-markets/financial-markets/trading/derivatives/dq413.pdf )- is proliferate in having its agents dispersed throughout the entirety of the U.S. government? TOUGH! GOLDMAN SACHS AND THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT ARE ONE IN THE SAME ENTITY!
Oh, but Senator Ted Cruz will ride in on his white steed and fix that ... The man the GS puppet masters have chosen for the Big Chair - Senator Ted Cruz ...
In case y’all poor deluded folks still think that there is hope for Washington D.C., specifically in the person of Ted Cruz, I’d like to bust your bubble - not that you won’t blow a new one. Repeat this over and over again until you understand: Ted Cruz’ wife, Heidi, is a Goldman Sachs executive.
https://www.linkedin.com/in/heidi-cruz-7778114
A position to which she ascended immediately after coming out of the Bush-Cheney White House, specifically a seat on the National Security Council. The same Goldman Sachs that is carrying over $53.5 TRILLION in derivatives exposure against an asset base of $89 Billion, levered up by a factor of over 500X. She VOLUNTARILY associates herself with this.
No, I’m sure you who stump for Senator Cruz are right. I’m sure Ted Cruz is DIFFERENT. I’m sure that the fact his wife is a Goldman Sachs executive has NO BEARING ON ANYTHING, and that he is as pure as the wind-driven snow. Youbetcha.
EYEROLL.
If you are angry with ME because I pointed that out AGAIN, you need to check yossef befo you wreck yossef. And why don’t you take up thumb-sucking and hair twirling too, while you’re at it, because that will actually be a better use of your time than soaking in a tepid, sulfuric pool of of your own cowardice and self-delusion.
THIS needs to be pounded and driven so as many people as possible know and understand it:
“I Am Putting Everything In Goldman Sachs Because These Guys Can Do Whatever The Hell They Want.”
Happy Trails, SUCKERS!
That’s above my pay grade.
Oh cut it out.
Ted brought the guy on the Bush team in Florida and endorsed him when he was nominated.
Ted was a Constitutional Scholar. Don’t start tying to down-play his credentials now, after shouting them at anyone that would listen for seven months.
A guy in his late 30s or early 40s and is a ‘brilliant Constitutinal scholar’ wasn’t up to giving good guidance?
Good to know now don’t you think.
Great plan, that one, sparky - And how much have you donated to Hillary and Sanders? I’m sure they both appreciate your principles valiant efforts at putting either of them in power, since in your twisted logic, they are so much a better choice than Donald Trump - that rich old meanie!
