Three of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy's sons and what they claim are 150 militia members have occupied a federal building in eastern Oregon in order to keep two local ranchers out of prison, according to local reports.
The group is believed to be heavily-armed.
According to The Oregonian, the group seized the headquarters building at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge about 50 miles outside Burns, Ore. The remote facility was closed and unoccupied at the time.
Bundy and his supporters were in Oregon after two men were scheduled to go to prison on Monday for setting fires on federal land, according to a report by Oregon Public Broadcasting. The case has caused a stir in eastern Oregon because the two men were charged under anti-terrorism laws.

Thanks for the suggestion. :) That is on my mental list right now. The list I have in my page is mostly a list of books that Thomas Jefferson supposedly recommended to his nephew. My actual list is quite a bit longer. :)
Gee, kind of hard to figure out why Ammon Bundy might have "an attitude" towards the Fed govthugs...
Because the Hammond boys know the Fed gunthugs will make their family pay - murdering children, if necessary...
Yeah you’re right.
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”
Thomas Jefferson
to James Madison
“They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Ben Franklin
American Statesman
“The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution.”
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States
“There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. “
Noah Webster
American Lexicographer
“Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable ... the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”
George Washington
First President of the United States
“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”
Richard Henry Lee
American Statesman, 1788
“Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not.”
Thomas Jefferson

If federal trespass law is enforced like immigration law, they will all be pardoned and get to keep the building !
I was a mild Progressive in college, and for a short time after I graduated.
Then, in late 1996 and early 1997, I became aware that the "Holy Media" was lying like a rug to protect Big Bill Clinton.
I think Pk may have learned her lesson.
Me? I'm still at war with The Media. I hate them with a hate that's white hot, after all these years.
I'm going to see them rubbed out. And I'll be in on the rub-out.
I assure you, I usually take what the media says with a grain of salt. Credulity is quite foreign to my nature. I think, in this case, it is my unfamiliarity with the Bundy family that probably led to my lapse in judgement. If I had been aware of their previous encounters with the government, I may have been more skeptical about media viewpoints on the situation. Also, I try to glean some information from the comments about the veracity of sources, and I didn’t see anyone denouncing the article so I figured it was at least semi-accurate. Definitely a “live and learn” situation.
This is the problem legal system. Intent is disregarded all the time in a show of power. Its as though the ‘government’ is a living organism unto itself and is constantly protecting itself and thus mindless. If they set fires illegally, broke the law in some fashion even knowingly, does it rise to the level of terrorism? Some DA looked at the act and went for the worst possible interpretation of the case. This probably merited a fine but that doesn’t look as good on a DA’s resume.
Are you familiar with the Battle of Athens?
He called for a peaceful rally, and when locals arrived he broke into and took over the bldg, essentially using them as human shields.
BEWARE THE WARLORD AMERICA, THEY ARE RISING FROM ALL CORNERS IN THIS POWER VACUUM CREATED BY PHONY REPRESENTATIVES!
In my hallway is two pictures of my great great grandparents. One is full Cherokee Indian. To refresh my memory I just glazed at them and have to admit they need dusting to remove a few spider web strings. Another thing I observe is that great ever so great grandmother looked quite ugly to be honest.
What do we know of her culture, not much, most if not all history was only recorded with the oncoming event of white man. We can romanticize of an ecological Indian of course, but we really have no idea what really occurred. Historically and Ecologically are just speculation at best. For thousands of year, all we know is perhaps a fire got out of control here and there, we do not know if practiced any form of land management.
Wiki gives us this... "Early researchers thought that no large burning was carried out by natives, but research during the latter half of the 20th century has shown that many or most of the presettlement fires were intentionally caused."
Then wiki says "CITATION NEEDED"...
Wiki says "Although there are no written documents describing the intentional, controlled burning of forests, it is believed...."
Wiki says "More forest exists today in some parts of North America than when the Europeans first arrived."
Now how would more forests exist today than back when there was perfect harmony and control with Indians? What would cause there to be less forest then than now? Big Fires perhaps that would of been even bigger if not for occasional fire started by lightning.
Genesis 1:28 is just part of the story...
You put all things under his feet. For in making man the ruler over all things, God did not put anything outside his authority; though we do not see everything under him now. Hebrews 2:8 Bible in Basic English version
So, if I set a fire on my property and it burns your property, it’s not arson?
Funny interpretation of the law.
The question here is the imposition of a longer sentence AFTER time has been served.
Now how would more forests exist today than back when there was perfect harmony and control with Indians? What would cause there to be less forest then than now? Big Fires perhaps that would of been even bigger if not for occasional fire started by lightning.
The answer is one that the eco-Nazi's refuse to listen to ...
... Fossil Fuels like coal and gas and petroleum.
It is also why we still have wild animals and fish in the lakes and seas. It is precisely why we have forests. Wide-scale intelligent irrigation also helped, as did energy distribution and advanced transportation engines and efficient heating and cooling equipment, and fire suppression techniques, but the availability of naturally occurring dense stored-energy sources is what has in fact saved the environment.
There was maybe a billion people in total on planet Earth when oil was first utilized and the internal combustion engine and all its variants came along, and that directly led to the late industrial revolution and further advancements in use of coal and gas. And those one billion were already putting a hurtin' on the environment by burning every living thing that burned, shooting everything living thing that had fur, or whose flesh contained oil and were fishing out every waterway. If that population were seven times as large we never would have made it this far, not to mention the environment around us. We began using dead things instead of killing live things.
Had environment-saving fossil fuels never been exploited there would be hardly a cord of wood to be found. And rather than planting exotic and decorative plants, grass and trees, the entire picture would revolve around planting fast growing product to harvest for immediate fuel use. Same goes for farming in general, which would consist mostly of animals to be used for fur for warmth and other things.
Beasts of burden then became mostly pets and optional curiosities, and the secondary damage to the environment from the waste of horses for example, littering every city street vanished overnight. You would think that PETA and Sarah McLachlan would be able to figure this much out.
So the living environment around us was in fact rescued by recycling the ancient long-dead environment beneath our feet. The environment NEVER had it so good. Tell every eco-Nazi you know to put that in their crack pipe and smoke it.
No, quite a few people in this thread have stated that setting the fire was justified.
So, if I set a fire on my property and it burns your property, itâs not arson?Funny interpretation of the law.
Not arson if its an accident. Intent is everything, well, it used to be until Obama's Department of Injustice gets involved.
Murder is the same way, as contrasted to manslaughter.
An old Communist dictum: Wherever there are three conspiring, two are police spies, well, that is the tenor of it.
