Donald Trump has a solution to the Miss Universe crown controversy: Share the wealth!
"What I would do is make them a co-winner, that would be very cool," the presidential candidate and former Miss Universe owner told Matt Lauer on the "Today" show Monday.
Pageant host Steve Harvey made an out-of-this-world blunder on Sunday night by mistakenly announcing Miss Colombia the winner -- before stripping her of the sash and tiara on live TV just minutes later to hand over the top prize to Miss Philippines, the true winner.
"What happened to the girl from Colombia is devastating," Trump told Lauer. "To give it to her for a couple of minutes and then take it away ... I would recommend that they go have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner. I think something like that could work."

How is this a win-win? Miss Philippines would be demoted via your solution. Get a clue.
No, she thought she had won, they mistakenly crowned her, but in reality, she did not win. This is the typical liberal mistake, to confuse appearances with reality, and to try to fix any embarrassment, any bad feelings by trying to alter reality.
It’s stupid.
It doesn’t actually change anything that’s real.
It’s unforgivable.
I’ll bet to understand why his brain made that mistake you would have to look at the other cards he read from. It is a little strange that they centered the Miss Universe name but left justified the runners up. It is still quite obvious, but if all the other cards he read from were entirely left justified, it might make a little more sense.
The jokes began quickly. On last evening’s Sport Center (ESPN), the highlights of the Washington Capitals/NY Ranger game were shown. At the end, the announcer gave the final score as 7-3. Then he quickly slipped in “after the game Steve Harvey said the Rangers won.”
There isn’t a dime’s worth of difference among the top contestants. The selection is purely arbitrary at that level. So, there isn’t any point to saying Miss X won all by herself. They are all just different flavors of gorgeous.
Steve Harvey...affirmative action poster boy!
BINGO!!!
Well said in 77.
Oh, dear! Someone feels bad for losing! I know! I know! Let’s make ALL the contestants co-winners, they can ALL be Miss Universe!
Well then why not just say they are all winners? The other ladies are sad, too.
Maybe that’s just a bad photo but while attractive like every contestant doesn’t look like a winner in that photo.
No everyone in the world knows the crown was awarded to Miss Philippines. Everyone.
Co-awarding it this year won’t change that. Everyone understands she actually won.
Everyone.
However also awarding the lady who was actually awarded the crown (even if incorrectly) just this year is the perfect solution.
It doesn’t take anything away from Miss Philippines, and it saves a whole huge amount of face for the runner-up, and quite a lot of South Americans would no doubt agree.
This is a great idea.
Miss Philippines won. We all get that. But co-awarding the crown would be a good solution, for the lady who was wronged in this.
Just this year. I believe it would be a good solution.
LOL. You beat me to it. See my post right after yours.
Great minds...
How is she demoted? She would still be Miss Universe.
Suck it up buttercup...I speak my mind, and others speak theirs plenty much in every other thread, that’s what we do here on FR.
Donald screwed up this more by injecting his big mouth into this, he’s running for POTUS which makes his opinion political.
But did Harvey make the mistake? Or was he fed the wrong name? Hard to think he’s given the winner and flubbed it
My thoughts exactly. When I saw her shoulders, I thought,That's no lady, that's a guy. Also, wrong choice of dress design.
Whatever the correct solution is, I don’t think taking the crown off of one contestant and putting it on another was the correct one. It was just unseemly.
Maybe you should ask Miss Philippines if she thinks it takes the award away from her instead of acting as her spokesperson. I think she’d have a totally different take on it than you.
