Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is "disgraceful" and a "disappointment" to conservatives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Saturday, while praising Associate Justice Clarence Thomas is his favorite member of the high court.
"Justice Roberts really let us down. What he did with Obamacare was disgraceful, and I think he did that because he wanted to be popular inside the Beltway," Trump told about 4,000 supporters. The celebrity billionaire was referring to the chief justice twice voting to uphold key provisions of President Barack Obama's 2010 health care law and to the expressway around the District of Columbia, an area regarded as the center of U.S. government and politics.
Thomas, arguably one of the court's most conservative members, is "very strong and consistent," Trump said.
The GOP front-runner offered his assessment during an hourlong question-and-answer-session with Attorney General Alan Wilson. The South Carolina Republican is hosting a series of forums in this early voting state to query GOP hopefuls about their theories on constitutional law and the role of the federal government.
Prompted by Wilson, Trump also blasted government regulations. He focused his ire on water regulations that he says flood the market with bad faucets, toilets and shower heads.
"There's no water pressure," he complained. "The problem is you stand under the shower five times as long wasting more water than if you used the other one. So people are flushing seven, eight, 10 times. The end result is that it's no good and you end up wasting more water.
"I could name hundreds like that," Trump concluded about the regulations.

He sure is right about that. Lately in hotels, I have to spend twice as long in the shower due to low pressure shower heads, it sucks. And the toilets need a double flush (well, no giggles on my needs). Regulations suck.
Trump not conservative? Sounds like he gets it to me.
If he has that much respect for Thomas, but he’s criticizing Cruz for his position on ethanol subsidies then maybe he should sit down with Thomas and Cruz and have a little discussion about Congress regulating things based on findings of a “substantial effect on interstate commerce”.
And Hillary is on hold waiting to talk to me about about how to get away with breaking the law.
Trump in a landslide.
How interesting....Thomas is a friend of Rush.
Valuable insight into who Trump would nominate to the SCOTUS.
It's a long way to Washing D.C.
Ted is no policy wonk.
He is the real deal
Trump took on Alwaleed and now Roberts. I suspect that the Islamists who made the electronic run on the bank in Sept of 2008 (an act of financial terrorism which US intel had warned as imminent) used the threat of another run to collapse the US and/or world economy to keep a bunch of peole in-line with the Islamist/communist placement of a foreign enemy combatant in our White House. Including GWB, VP Cheney, McCain, Roberts, the heads of the media companies, and other eligibility judges.
The more I see of Trump, the more I think he gets it. He understands where we are (at the edge of a precipice) and how we got here (sabotage from our communist and Islamist enemies working within our system through their oil money). He doesn’t have to say it out loud, but the people he has chosen to attack and the order in which he does so speaks volumes to me. The guy was not sucked in by the lies and criminal deceptions regarding Obama’s eligibility and Muslim leanings, and that has allowed him to see clearly - and act effectively to combat what’s REALLY being done by our enemies.
If Roberts is compromised, as the evidence suggests - whether by the Islamists’ financial terrorism, by threats about his adopted child, by NSA spying showing some indiscretion either hetero or homo in nature, or whatever - then Roberts himself should be glad because of how Trump is confronting his threateners. Especially if Roberts really is conservative. And the way he acted and the way he looked when he changed his vote on the Obamacare decision suggests he was NOT a willing party to that.
If he is supposedly faking it, then he fakes it better than the “real” ones.
This is a revolution, and the whole rotten system is having a breakdown.
I thought my support for Trump peaked a month ago. I’ll admit I was wrong about Trump again and surprised he can keep getting better.
“And Libloather is on my cell phone line, asking how he should respond to anyone telling him or her that his or her silly little graphic is a ridiculous idea and that Trump understands more about every issue than Libloather can ever dream up in that skimpy imagination of his or hers.”
Trump watches Seinfeld apparently.
Trump sure does know how to tell people what they want to hear. He lost points with me yesterday on ethanol (playing to an Iowa crowd), but he gains them back with this article.
Trump talks not lecture.
I bet Sienfeld watches Trump LOL
Trump supporters are some of the most gullible people I’ve ever witnessed.
So Trump calls Roberts a disgrace and Thomas his favorite? Well, isn’t that nice.
The guy that thinks we need Universal Healthcare because “we gotta take care of the women, the women and the children, and I will take care of them?”
Kinda like the Bible being Trump’s favorite book ever?
The guy that called marriage equality “the law of the land”?
The guy that doesn’t believe in State’s Rights or Family (See SC Confederate Flag Issue, Kim Davis?)
The guy that thinks his sister would make a “phonomenal” SCOTUS Justice?
Deace is right. Trump is the Greatest Troll ever.
“I do not believe I have ever seen a presidential candidate take a tab at a member of SCOTUS.”
-—May not a candidate but we saw a “so-called” President take a swipe at SCOTUS while they sat in front of him
