The Turkish military has released an audio recording of what it says were warnings to a Russian warplane before it was shot down on the Syrian border.
"Change your heading south immediately," a voice says in English. Turkey said it had tried to rescue the SU-24 bomber's two pilots.

all ground to pilot and pilot to.ground communication everywhere in the entire world is in English specifically aviation English it is the official language of aviation. Every pilot that gets a license is required to pass an aviation English proficiency exam. every nation that is a member state of the IACO also ensures that every pilot it has can converse to ATC in aviation English, Russia is a member of the IACO which is civilian but its military pilots are held to the same standards, most of Russia’s civil aviation pilots are former military members as well.
Really? A made up tape? The guy last night on the news he said they didn’t know it was a Russian plane.

Nonsense. It is a war zone. Russia previously shot dow a Turkish F-4 Phantom. Russia has been busy since before October last flying well into Turkish airspace with their identifying transponders turned off, not responding to air traffic control and defense radio communications warnings, and with their weapons targeting systems turned on and locked-on to Turkish air defense fighters while they were located far inside Turkey as an imminent threat contrary to international laws. If that doesn’t qualify the unidentified Russian aircraft as targets in your opinion, nothing ever will.
And the Russian propaganda channel, Sputnik, is the international language of FR.

Maybe not, a recording could have been made at any time and the Russian jet could have been in Syrian airspace after all.
I would suspect a setup. A Russian plane was coming down at the first available moment whether or not they violated Turkish airspace. Just coming close is all the Turks needed for the excuse to try and get NATO involved. Turkey supports the ISIS, makes billions off them and wants Assad gone bye, bye.
So far, the smartest thing to happen was at the NATO meeting the other day was for them to tell Turkey it is their problem and now they get to deal with The Vlad on their own.
What is disgusting to me is we have equipped Turkey with our near front line weapons and it looks like they are going to have to use them against Vlad. Vlad is gonna turn off their heat for the winter too, a little economic hit that will rile the Turks.
Think about it. I suspect a setup (for example). Russia provokes Turkey into shooting at a jet for the purpose of getting NATO involved, knowing that NATO will be split in the process.

That’s possible, but unknowable unless you have a certified accurate recording of the aircrafts ground path time stamped to the voice recording.
The real question is why would the Turks shoot down a plane that making at best a technical violation of their airspace

My time in war zones and pseudo war zones, includes tracking Russian, Chinese, N. Korean, Iranian, and Iraqi airborne assets, among others.
I understand the concept of targets versus tracks.

I’m not expressing an opinion about the wisdom of the engagement. I am only observing the situation with regard to the application of international laws. It also needs to be noted that the engagement did not occur because of a decision by the Turkish fighter pilots. The decision and order came directly from President Erdigon, according to the news reports. His involvement implies President Erdogan had decided to take action against the next unidentified warplane the made an incursion into Turkish air space to give teeth to the warnings that have gone unheeded for months and longer.
Was Erdogan’s decision wise or unwise? Given the recent geopolitical situation, I can see it being problematical either way it was to be played. I suspect Erdogan has consulted with the other NATO leaders, found disagreement among their ranks, and then decided to proceed to act upon the views of those who shared his concerns about Putin’s intentions. The East European members of NATO are deeply concerned about Putin’s appetite for further territorial conquests. Many of them believe Turkey has the geographical position and military strength needed to win in a confrontation with Putin’s Russia. They likely believed the next time Russia set out to provoke an incident, they would oblige him with a punishment designed to signal that is time for Putin to backdown or face a conflict Russia and Putin cannot afford to risk, economically and politically. The prior controversial Russian kill of the Turkish F-4 Phantom provided a plausible reason for being touchy about the activities of Syrian and Russian military aircraft and combat operations along the Turkish border. It may also be Erdogan’s warning to putin to layoff the Syrian rebel Turkmen groups being supported by Turkey inside Syria.

I haven’t seen any news reports about direct evidence, but such evidence does seem to be implied by the response of the NATO Secretary General. See:

Does this mean you are another apologist for Putin and Russia, and you somehow ignore the Russian kill of the Turkish F-4 Phantom was already an act of war committed by Russia against Turkey?
