You Are the Football Fan |
You're the guest who comes for the game, not for the meal. Thanksgiving dinner is just a bonus. As far as you're concerned, everyone should be eating in front of the television!
While other football fans are thrilled to see you show up, everyone else wishes you had something else to talk about. Try to make a little small talk with the family. (You can do it during commercial breaks!) |
"Try to make a little small talk with the family. (You can do it during commercial breaks!)"
No way, Jose! If they do not want to discuss football then I am not even aware that they exist!!!!!

Glad you are safely home.
If her house is sold is she moving to assisted living closer to you?
I’ve gotten a SMALL start of the sorting bit.

Mrs. henkster was a little taken aback when she was first exposed to the henksters.
The nice thing about the cafeteria is no stack of dishes. Grab an extra pile of stuffing for me!

“People accuse me of thinking that Iâm the smartest man in the room. Usually, I am.”
I run into that problem also. It comes with the territory of getting the PhD. I’d rather at some point have friends more than I want to win arguments. I’m also not interested in ruining everyone’s day. Thus, I just say very little and leave early.
Oddly the only exception is British my Son-in-Law who is a Jeremy Corbin supporting member of the British Labour party. He actually enjoys the repartee and we can talk politics with each other.

nah...that’ll just make it muddy for work when it melts that 4 inches of global warming we got last Saturday.
Might be a good day to do some target practice in the back yard while my only neighbor is having their dinner.
Just kidding : )

Frazzled, but that’s ok. If it is going to get done right, I’m going to have to do it. Family’s here. I can sleep tomorrow. Now...where did I lay that flamethrower for browning the bird?

No mud around here. My yard was so dry from September and October that the snow didn’t do anything to it. It’s still got cracks in the soil around the south side and it’s never had that this late in November.

We are all in the family business. We already see each other all the time and our get-togethers we always end up just talking about work.

the ground will suck it up pretty quick since it wasn’t frozen before it snowed.
for what we do, I’d almost rather the ground freeze and stay that way this time of year. Just not 18” of frost in the ground like last year.

With Us and in Us
November 25, 2015
I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.
John 14:16
My son had just started nursery school. The first day he cried and declared, âI donât like school.â My husband and I talked to him about it. âWe may not be physically there, but we are praying for you. Besides, Jesus is with you always.â
âBut I canât see Him!â he reasoned. My husband hugged him and said, âHe lives in you. And He wonât leave you alone.â My son touched his heart and said, âYes, Jesus lives in me.â
Kids are not the only ones who suffer from separation anxiety. In every stage of life we face times of separation from those we love, sometimes because of geographical distance and sometimes because of death. However, we need to remember that even if we feel forsaken by others, God hasnât forsaken us. He has promised to be with us always. God sent the Spirit of truthâour Advocate and Helperâto dwell with us and in us forever (John 14:15-18). We are His beloved children.
My son is learning to trust, but so am I. Like my son, I canât see the Spirit, but I feel His power as each day He encourages me and guides me as I read Godâs Word. Let us thank God for His wonderful provision, the Spirit of Christ who is with us and in us. We are certainly not alone!
Lord, thank You for Your Holy Spirit who lives in me.
In todayâs passage Jesus describes the promised Spirit as an advocate (v. 15). The original Greek word is paraklete, which literally means âsomeone called alongside to help.â Some translations render the word as counselor or comforter. While those terms convey some of the meaning, advocate adds a different layer to the definition because paraklete was also used to describe someone who served as legal counsel or as a defense attorney. Our Helperâthe Spirit of Godâwas sent by Jesus to help us in our time of need.

She will eventually but it’s going to be at least another month in rehab for very intense workouts.
She will probably stay here till we get it all sorted out. I’ll have to do some rearranging for this to happen. You know how that goes.
