Conservatives Need to Rally Around Ben Carson
PJ Media ^ | 11-07-2015 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 11/07/2015 3:01:35 AM PST by Michael van der Galien

As J. Christian Adams reported yesterday, Politico published an article on Friday claiming that Ben Carson’s campaign “admitted” he lied about being offered a “full government scholarship” to West Point. My colleague pointed out that Politico’s reporting was sloppy, but the same goes – he argued – for the campaign’s response. The point seems to be: Politico’s article isn’t entirely fair, but Carson’s response and exaggerations mean he’s not ready for the spotlight.

Although Carson’s campaign certainly made a mistake by responding to Politico’s inquiries the way they did – they kept it too vague – the fact of the matter is that the website’s piece was nothing more than a hackjob. Politico is known to be the personal propaganda website of Democrats and the Republican Party’s establishment, both of whom hate Carson (and other outsiders and/or conservatives like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz).

Here are the facts. As Mark Levin explained on his radio show yesterday, West Point frequently put out ads back then (we’re talking almost 50 years ago) claiming that students would get “full government scholarships.” They would get everything for free: they wouldn’t have to pay tuition, they’d even get a wage, and everything they needed to live (dormitories, etc.) would be taken care of. In return, the students had to serve a couple of years in the military after they graduated. This system is still in place by the way, but I’m not sure West Point still advertises it as “full government scholarships” as such.

Although every single West Point-student gets that offer, Carson didn’t pretend that the ‘offer’ given to him was special. He just said – and repeated it several times – that General Westmoreland had told him he could help Carson get into West Point and offer him that full government scholarship.

"The lying-cheating-attacking liberal media is one of our nation’s biggest problems."

It's too bad that so many FR people are going along in this case. If you dig into anyone's past, it is hard NOT to find some time when they have made some sort of inaccurate or imprecise comment, and that goes for virtually anyone who's ever posted here, including myself.

Obama's biography contains several claims that have been disputed, but the MSM never gave a hoot.

I repeat, there is a difference in rallying around him for vicious and unwarranted attacks on his character and in separating from him on policies, like TTP. Don’t give the media the power to select our candidates.

It could be too that Dr. Carson hasn’t thought that much about solutions which might not work anyway. He would likely wait until he is in the Oval Office and see what comes down the pike and then respond.

Politico needs to pay a big price. I emailed the author, for starters. It was an attempted political assasination of a very good man. The good Dr. doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, and saved how many lives?

I’d beat the crap out of the author, I ever meet him in person. It’d be worth the arrest. Kyle Cheney is the asshat.

Send him a love letter: kcheney@politico.com

OR ‘gun control’, either.

Carson can take care of himself.

... or else he doesn't deserve our support.

The polls early in the week showed Carson handily beating Clinton head to head. Then liberal media stepped in to do damage control

Trump is a lot like REagan in that he’s a great American. He knows our culture and draws from it. He respresents the strength in us, and people who founded this country.

We are in essence strong willed, sometimes aggressive people. YOu see that in our sports, our recreations, (football nascar etc). You don’t come to this country to sit on your duff and collect a hand out.

Trump understands that. The democrats want everyone on the doll.

The sooner the field coalesces around him the better. He needs to get his negotiation skills out and talk these guys into supporting him...and Cruz too... NOW!!!!!1

My post was to illustrate Carson is just another GOP-Establishment hack.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

This whole thing is designed! Negative article and then a “sympathy” hue and cry. Change the name/situation from poor old Ben Carson to poor old Shrillary and look at it again!

I won't ‘rally’ around him, my candidate is Trump and very solid...but:

America has higher standards than this...with pen and paper this person took another human being and basically ‘tarred and feathered’ him....to some that statement might seem drastic, but it's there just the same...

There are better ways of saying things than to use this hateful bitter vile that came from this media person...and if we let this continue to let this happen, we are no better than the person is that wrote the disgusting article...

America has higher standards that what was shown over this....

No I don’t. He didn’t impress me before, nothing about the stories true or false changes my opinion of him. He’s a book tour candidate, out there to pimp his brand, won’t vote for him.

Frankly, I agree. But in my opinion, Carson doesn’t have anything to put up. He’s wide of what this country needs and doesn’t have a foggy notion how to deal with any of it. Carson is being pushed by the establishment to clear the way for Rubio. Rubio is their boy since they can’t shove Bush down our throats. Carson is soft spoken bait! His bedside manner is well polished and people are falling for it. They should read up on some of his operations which weren’t at all as one would hope. Funny how there is very little about it.....maybe because he’s supposed to wear the title “The good doctor.”....even though he ruined a woman’s life by too much operating....and others aren’t so happy with him either.

Well actually Ben Carson has put out a bunch of his solutions and they are pathetic. Between that and his screwball Pyramid grain theory and general ineptness and ignorance regarding our governmental system I’m not rallying around him for any reason. He is a really poor candidate and he needs to go home and enjoy his retirement.

Hit piece or not, Ben Carson is getting a bit creepy to me. Toilets for Transgenders is what put me over the line. His childlike lisp also worries me, it seems manipulative.

AND just who do you think is maneuvering the media around? My bet is all this flack is to hurt Trump and CAUSE people to flock to Carson. Sorry, but my granddad was a rancher. This has ALL THE SIGNS of a cattle drive. Freepers are shoring up Carson which is pulling away from Trump...exactly what the Establishment wants!!!!!!!!
