After taking a battering in last month's poll, Donald Trump has re-emerged at the top of the Republican field in the latest IBD/TIPP poll.
Support for Trump among registered Republicans and those leaning Republican is 28%; support for Carson is 23%. Last month's poll had Carson up by 7 points over Trump.
Marco Rubio comes in third at 11%, the same as last month.
No other GOP candidate reached double digits. Support for Jeb Bush dropped two points to 6%; Carly Fiorina collapsed to 3% from last month's 9%. Ted Cruz held at 6%.
"Trump's support in the last poll suffered somewhat because of his nearly weeklong boycott of Fox News, which has since been lifted," said Raghavan Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, which conducts the IBD/TIPP poll. "Carson has recently been under more scrutiny by both the media and other candidates."
Mayur added, "Though our latest poll shows Trump leading Carson, the poll's margin of error of +/- five points means that Trump and Carson are still running a close race."

Carson is on his way out now. Cruz should be much higher - definitely above Rubio!!!
>> support for Carson is 23%
Who ARE all these naïfs who think Carson would somehow make a good president?
A Carson administration would be a nightmare for the vast majority of us.
Are there any polls completely composed of responses after Cruz’s crushing performance in the last debate?
Yes after Wed night I expect Carson to start fading. Disappointing that Cruz cannot get past about 7%. I don’t see Rubio hanging on to a distant third for long although if he does it won’t stop Trump getting the nomination.
Trump is a faux Republican buffoon.
I love how the Trumpies criticize Republicans for votes they took, or positions they espoused years ago, while at the same time excusing Trumpâs high speed flip-flops of the recent past.
Supported Pelosi, Reid, and a whole bunch of dems and a couple of RINOS. Thinks his sister the leftist judge would make a âphenomenalâ Supreme Court Justice. Thinks The Marxist mayor of New York is great. Loves Hillary. Hangs with Bill. Supported gun control, until he didnât. Said Romney was âtoo hard on illegal aliensâ in 2012, before his focus groups told him he could ride half-baked solutions to that one problem to the top of the polls. Supports government run single payer healthcare.
The cognitive dissonance must be a bitch!
So in other words, last month’s poll was bull$hit. An outlier at best, probably cooked to show Trump dropping and Ben rising. But the Trump numbers are still strong so they lie and say it’s about the Fox boycott which not one Trump supporter watches anymore. The media are shameless.
Cruz is beginning to remind me of Bull Meechum, Robert Duvall’s action-over-talking character in The Great Santini.
“Bull don’t say, he just do.”
Who are you backing then?
Cruz and Rubio got a bump from the debate, judging from my political t-shirt business. I expect that to show up in the polls soon.
Believe it or not, a lot of Republicans only know Ted by what they’ve heard in the media.
That’s why in all his speeches and rallies he calls them out, they know he is on to them, they know he hates them probably more than they hate going to his rallies and speeches, but what are they going to do, not do it and lose millions of dollars? I don’t think so....
Aren’t you just so excited to see all this slime and crime and lies coming out into the open where we all can see it, and there they are thinking we don’t know anything and what such fools they look like!!!! GO TRUMP!!!
Trump has sucked out the oxygen of bold safe-borders. That was Cruz’s strength.
Cruz said, “secure the border.” Trump said - “build a wall and have Mexico pay for it.” Which message resonates more with the voters?
Oh, and both went to the border - Cruz went with Glenn Beck to hand out soccer balls and teddy bears to illegals. Trump went there on invitation from the security border guards. Which message resonates more with the voters?
Well at least Ted Cruz stayed consistent.
An earlier thread mentioned a Drudge Report poll of over 100K participants. Didn’t see it, but he has a list of polls which are all over the place. I believe with so many candidates; respondents are not paying attention to specific issues but rather whether they ‘like’ the candidates’ personae. Presently, we just have a Mister America contest.
It will shake out - but there has to be some real debate on substantive issues. A debate with Rush and Mark Levin as moderators would be delicious.
The most conservative Republican who can get elected. That is not Trump.
So essentially, this poll has Trump gaining and Carson losing support.
Makes me wonder if last month’s poll with Trump at 17% wasn’t just that 1-in-20 outlier and this one is back to reflecting what most of the rest have been.
Zactly...
