Ben Carson's Holocaust theory prompts outcry from Jewish groups

Jewish groups and Holocaust scholars say Ben Carson’s claims that Nazi gun control laws contributed to the Holocaust are offensive and inaccurate, but Carson is not backing down. .

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which was founded to combat anti-Semitism and other forms of prejudice, derided Carson’s theory – which he first raised in his new book “A Perfect Union” – as “historically inaccurate.” .

But the ADL wasn’t the only major organization to weigh in: The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum also took issue with Carson’s decision to inject his claims into America’s gun debate.

I couldn’t find a link, because this happened a long time ago in MA, so I will just relate from my memory of the incident.

Sylvia, an elderly Holocaust survivor, had a lovely store that sold high-end antiques and collectibles in the Boston area.

Some thugs came into the store to rob her.

She probably dispatched them with her pistol, which she had behind the counter.

She was not prosecuted, and proudly went on TV and said “After putting up with the nazis, you think I’m gonna be scared of those little punks?”

We need more folks like that among us.

The ADL and Holocaust Museum might want to rethink their position.

First the Nazi State made private ownership of weapons illegal, then the State felt free to arrest and murder 6 million jews.
There was no risk to the Agents of the State, so why not.

So, if guns are useless, why did NOT the Jews turn down the offer of a few revolvers while trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto?

The grabbed those “evil” pistols, shot some guards, grabbed their guns, shot some more, grabbed their machine guns and the battle was really on.
The Jews died, but they did not go willingly into gas chambers. They died spitting in the Nazi eye and shooting them in the gut!

Another very good book on the Holocaust I would recommend is, THE HOLOCAUST CHRONICLE-A HISTORY IN WORDS AND PICTURES.
It demonstrates perfectly how vulnerable an unarmed citizenry is to armed government thugs.
It also demonstrates how a very few armed Jewish citizens in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising were able to hold off the entire German war machine for several weeks (they would have won if the Soviet Army had come to their aid) before ultimately being defeated.
The worst part of it is that the Allies showed absolutely no concern for the Jews and other minorities that the Nazis were killing in the millions, these were political decisions based on prejudice and greed.

Not only did Switzerland have a well-trained civilian militia, there’s also the huge problem of invading a mountainous country. By 1940, the Swiss built a very extensive system of fortifications that took full advantage of the mountainous terrain of the country and any land invasion would have resulted in massive casualties on the German side because the Swiss defender held the “high ground” in too many parts of the country.

I recall reading a conversation between Hitler and a subordinate about invading Switzerland. The Subordinate said something to the effect that "surely we can beat their army?"

To which Hitler was said to have responded, "Switzerland doesn't have an army. Switzerland IS an Army. "
