For the fourth time this week, Ben Carson finds himself embroiled in controversy. This time, hes in trouble with the Left for declaring that, the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed. Before that, he caught flack for saying that people should rush mass shooters, that the loss of constitutional liberties is more devastating than a body with bullet wounds, and that not every lifestyle is exactly of the same value.
The list could go on Carson has been touching off such online tempests for months.
Each time, the pattern is the same: Carson expresses his opinion typically grounded in common sense and widely shared by the American people the media declares that some people are offended, and he doubles down, restating his position again and again in the same calm, even tone.
Here he is, for example, addressing his comments about the Oregon shooting:
The media and the Left loudly proclaim that his remarks are offensive so as to avoid addressing his points. Does anyone really think that it would have been just as easy to oppress Jews in Germany and elsewhere if theyd been heavily armed? After years of watching mass shooters gun down innocent victims sheltering in place, do people really think it would be worse to rush the gunmen? Is anyone arguing that children from intact, mother-father households dont do substantially better than those from broken homes?
#share#Carsons response to the howls of the PC left is the right one: Well call it apathetic conviction. Hes not outraged by the outrage; he simply doesnt care. The outrage bores him. And no response is better calculated to rob critics of their power than boredom. Youre offended by my comments? Im trending on Twitter? Wake me when the shame-storm is over, and then lets debate my arguments on their substance.
This is what sets him apart from Donald Trump. While Trump claims to disdain political correctness, he often tries to deploy it as a weapon against his opponents, demanding apologies and terminations when he feels offended:
People have been forced to resign positions for far less than @JonahNROs tweeting like a 14 year old girl Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 21, 2015
This isnt escaping political correctness; its reinforcing outrage culture with more outrage. Both Carson and Trump are connecting with voters who are tired of cautious politicians, of leaders who head for the hills in the face of controversy. But Carsons way is the better way, the way best calculated to not only drain the outrage merchants of their power but also to change hearts and minds. No wonder he has the highest favorability rating in the GOP field, and remains the only Republican candidate to consistently outpoll Hillary Clinton.
The Carson approach is replicable. Few people have the temperament or desire to follow the Trump model of answering shouts with more shouts. We can, however, ignore the outrage and articulate our convictions.
If a social-justice warrior screams on Twitter, and no one is there to hear him, does he make a sound?
David French is an attorney and a staff writer at National Review.
some people get paid for analyzing their navel lint
When was the last time National Review had anything worthwhile to read?
Love Carson but Trump is right about Jonah Goldberg being like a 14 year old girl:
Goldberg leading NatRev is ridiculous and he shouldnt have that job.
Castro, as soon he took power he said: Arms for What? Then he disarmed the people and imposed a brutal Stalinist regime that is still enslaving the Cubans for over 56 years.
The Second Amendment of the Constitution was specifically created by our Founding Fathers to avoid that what happen in Cuba, and Germany will not happen in U.S.
Carson is the only amnesty candidate left that is even within striking didstance of Trump. The rest have all sunk into single digits.
The Ministry of Propganda is under extreme pressure by The Cheap Labor Express to knock Trump down and get an amnesty candidate nominated for the GOP.
This one was worthwhile. Unless one is a Tumpster.
Trump has a technique that works against the Democratic Media, and the Liberal GOP Media ie. the National Review.
Tit for Tat.
Trump responds to name calling with name calling and put downs.
Just like Carson on the other hand, Trump uses reasoned arguments and persuasion when the moment calls for it.
Carson and Trump are doing much needed services for America successfully defying the PC Police and talking about subjects that nearly the whole population had believed to be taboo.
But Carson is largely manufactured by the media. Carson has no fire. He is not exciting. He is not bold. He's not putting out detailed plans. I see Carson as a good candidate to lose against the Democrat.
But the media is all excited about Carson. National Review is pushing Carson. They know he's a loser.
"Carson's response to PC outrage is smarter than Trump's"
Then why is Trump ahead of Carson?
It doesn’t much matter who has “the job” now. NR was my bible when I was young. Now it is just another slightly higher toned Time.
All I can say is quit trying to shove another Candidate not qualified to run the Government at this time...
I’m sure Carson is a good person, but he doesn’t have the qualifications to lead us back to Make America Great Again!
How amazing that we finally have Trump and Carson out there daring to say what any reasoning citizen knows!
I am beginning to like Dr Carson. I don’t think he is qualified but I like how he handles himself.
“This one was worthwhile. Unless one is a Tumpster.”
David French? National Review? Worthwhile? Tumpster?
Bit convenient for you to assert, don’t you think? It is a load-of-crap hit piece, from French, for National Review, again.
Carson may be criticized for what he says; Trump is criticized for being Trump. There is a difference and it has to be responded to.
When Goldberg says something obnoxious, both what he says and how he says it has to be dealt with.
Jesus himself called snotty opponents snakes, fools, and hypocrites. Does that offend the delicate sensibilities of you and French and National Review?
Which is the real problem. Anyone that thinks you should be canned for a comment like tweeting like a 14 year old girl deserves to be shouted at. Whiny biatchs.
And people who let themselves be forced to resign (over little comments such as these) by these whiny PC /SJW biatchs are worthless also, IMO.
We have a whole country full of "men" that make ditzy junior girls sound like mature adults.
Usual bs from the review versus reality as shown below:
Donald Trump 32% Crushes GOP Field In Latest New Hampshire Gravis Polling

The latest New Hampshire poll shows a far more engaged electorate continuing to be a thorn in the side of the 2015/16 GOPe scheme to anoint Jeb Bush. In addition, the ruse candidates, Fiorina and Rubio have exhausted their media-fueled surge and remain static alongside Jeb Bush at 8%.
John Kasichs ground game and almost exclusive attention to New Hampshire has garnered him a position just above Jeb, Carly and Marco. However, the vulgarians are determined to Make America Great Again!
Gravis Marketing, a nonpartisan research firm, conducted a random survey of 1,035 registered voters in New Hampshire regarding the presidential election and other areas. The poll was conducted October 5-6, 2015. The sample includes 662 Republicans, 373 Democrats, and the remainder not planning on participating in the primary, but are planning to vote in the regular elections. The poll has a margin of error of ± 3.1% [3.8% for Republican Caucus/5.1% for Democratic Caucus]. (link)

There is good reason to be afraid of Trump

8 minutes,
Poor NRO reduced now to supporting Carson against Trump, having gone through Perry, Walker, Fiorina, Rubio (twice), Bush (kinda) and even Cruz.
