PPP Poll: Trump now easily beating Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Scott Walker head to head nationally

So says PPP, the same outfit responsible for that poll a few weeks back showing Trump losing head-to-head match-ups against Rubio and Walker in North Carolina. Either NC is an outlier or the mood has changed nationally because Republicans across America now prefer him to either of those candidates — and not narrowly either. He leads Rubio by eight when voters are forced to choose between them and Walker by 14. As for Jeb Bush, gadzooks:

tb

Jeb’s got another month to turn things around before the donor class heads for the lifeboats, I think. There is one candidate tested who still tops Trump head to head: That’d be Ben Carson, the race’s nice-guy outsider, who leads Trump by six, 49/43. How come? Quite possibly because of evangelical support. Evangelicals prefer Trump to Bush, Rubio, and even Scott Walker by comfortable margins. Against Carson, though, Trump trails 49/41 among that group versus 48/44 among non-evangelicals. That’s a bad sign for Trumpmania in Iowa if Carson has legs.

Here’s an … interesting poll result.

Our new poll finds that Trump is benefiting from a GOP electorate that thinks Barack Obama is a Muslim and was born in another country, and that immigrant children should be deported. 66% of Trump’s supporters believe that Obama is a Muslim to just 12% that grant he’s a Christian. 61% think Obama was not born in the United States to only 21% who accept that he was. And 63% want to amend the Constitution to eliminate birthright citizenship, to only 20% who want to keep things the way they are.

Trump’s beliefs represent the consensus among the GOP electorate. 51% overall want to eliminate birthright citizenship. 54% think President Obama is a Muslim. And only 29% grant that President Obama was born in the United States. That’s less than the 40% who think Canadian born Ted Cruz was born in the United States.

Among Republicans who believe Obama was born in the U.S., Trump leads the GOP field with a comparatively modest 21 percent. Among those who don’t believe Obama was born here, he leads with 39 percent. Head to head among the group that believes Obama was born here, he trails all five candidates he’s tested against — Bush, Carson, Fiorina, Rubio, and Walker. Among the group that believes Obama wasn’t born here, he utterly demolishes all five, with Carson trailing by 16 points and the rest trailing by 30 points or more. You get similar results when you divide the primary electorate by who thinks Obama is a Christian and who thinks he’s a Muslim. Trump leads the field among the first group with 24 percent but leads among the second with 35 percent. The head-to-head polling is predictable too, with Trump trailing badly to Bush, Carson, Fiorina, and Rubio among the “Obama is a Christian” group but winning handily among the “Obama is a Muslim” crowd. (He leads Scott Walker among both groups.) You wanted populism, you got it.

As for Trump’s appeal among different wings of the party, it’s true that he’s leading among tea partiers and non-tea-partiers alike but his strength is much greater among the first group than the second here. Among TPers, he’s the first choice of 42 percent, far more than anyone else in the field; among non-TPers, he leads with 25 percent, 10 points ahead of Carson. In head-to-head match-ups TPers prefer him to all of the five other candidates, and only Carson even makes it close. Scott Walker, the next strongest Trump challenger in this category, trails him among tea partiers by 19 points.

But never mind all that. What you really want is the “Trump vs. Fox News and Megyn Kelly” polling. Here you go.

mk

Tea partiers prefer Trump handily to Kelly but they’re evenly divided between Trump and Fox News generally. In fact, Fox has an astounding 86/4 favorable rating among tea partiers versus 62/19 for the rest of the party. Even Kelly is at 48/27 within the group, a rating most politicians would accept happily. Interestingly, although Fox News’s favorability is much higher among those who say Obama wasn’t born in the U.S. than those who say he is, Kelly’s favorability runs the other way, increasing among those who think Obama was born here. The same trend shows up among those who say Obama’s a Christian and those who say Obama’s a Muslim: Fox is more popular with the latter group whereas Kelly is more popular with the former. That’s in keeping with her image generally as a more middle-of-the-road anchor in Fox’s otherwise firmly right-wing line-up.

Oh, incidentally: She just finished the month of August at number one in all of cable news, O’Reilly included, in the 25-54 demo, the group that advertisers care most about. That’s only the third time she’s done that since “The Kelly File” began. What happened to the post-debate boycott?

People trust him. I don’t trust Trump any more than I do Bohener or McConnell.

The question would be why so many trust Carson despite some of the same things that he has said (like 2nd Amendment issues) where they don't trust Trump. Trump's history and "being educated by his sons who are avid hunters" is more solid that Carson's yet folks bash Trump.

On immigration, nobody comes out stronger than Trump yet folks will 'forgive" the lack of fortitude on it for a Carson while bashing Trump.

I see a pattern here and have trouble grasping it - we are taking our front runner - who got there by espousing what Conservatives want - and trash flies while the calm and sedate Carson gets passes because ????????

I like Carson but would much rather have a Trump than a Carson for president.

Who do contribute to and back?

Here's some suggestions if you want folks to believe you have skin in the game:

Donate to Cruz

If enough Americans were being educated in STEM majors instead of the liberal BA degrees, we wouldn’t have to be using H1Bs to import skilled people.

Most colleges and universities are run by liberal socialists who preach the need to be touchy-feely, instead of teaching the hard core subjects that are needed to maintain and advance our country and society.

You might want to hold back your anti American bigotry in your misguided attempt to defend Cruz. It is a real turn off.

OK. So now we know how Trump polls among those who think Obama is a Christian who was born in the US.

And I have a good idea how Trump polls with those who think Obama is a POS.

I love Trump bringing illegals to the forefront. I simply don’t believe the man has core principles. Cruz does but he lacks whatever it is that attract people to a leader. Dilemma.

Balogna. H1B’s replace higher paid and skilled Americans because they come at a lower cost and in some cases those Americans are forced to train their replacements or forgo severance.

I am so hesitant on these poll results. This same PPP poll could not resist marginalizing Trump supporters as tin foil hat types, with that ridiculous base line question where the polling began, grounded in those who believe Obama is a Muslim, a foreigner.

Seems Trumpets are made to look like un-intelligent, conspiratorial, know-nothings and those against Trump must be superior, civilized well educated, moderate minded Jebber supporters. Blech.

Billy Crystal was on this morning, on Morning Joe, saying he does not believe that ppp poll, on the questions that were emphasized against Obama. He said they are a democrat polling outfit, with some pollster turned loose who wants to be famous fast, or some such.

The point being, it seems this week has really caused the media to turn the corner, to end the courtship of Donald and instead for publishing stuff elevating other candidates and commence a rag against Trump supporters at the same time YEB! comes out with a few remarks against Trump’s democrat past.

(Trump as we know always walked the line it seems, registered as a Republican, doing business in NYC as a liberal. Go figure. I can get that, can’t you?)

Right now they’re adding a population the equivalent of 1 major city per year, of 1 million each, in legal immigration alone.

This is not including all the others, student visas, H-1B refugees, millions of illegal aliens and other categories.

I could quickly list 20 ways how this is significantly detrimental to our Veterans, our poor, our elderly, our middle class and our entire country. Given time the list would be large.

New laws, policies with significant limits are needed across the board regarding immigration. Legal and illegal folks including H1B and the rest. It’s the way it needs to be for now regardless of what some engineering firm in LA, or Bell wants for the right price. Those same engineering firms also hire thousands of illegals for their stoop labor through their contractors etc. The same firms bribe the politicians to get what they want. It’s slow national suicide.

There are ways to put young Americans who’d really want those jobs into those jobs. I understand it’s about their bottom line. I know most American and *foreign* owned biz here couldn’t care less about American allegiance. Biz is about profits and bottom line.

It’s a viscous cycle which makes as much sense as our government institutions, universities and colleges handing out worthless or unneeded diplomas to young Americans, while foreigners are invited in for good paying American jobs. All this while millions of others enter through federal government borders illegal taking a huge number of low tech middle class jobs. Who are the winners here?

This vicious cycle cannot be perpetuated. Like the man said, We’re in big trouble. America is broken it needs to be fixed.

Learn it.

If you can find them.

Colleges are teaching fairy dust courses; you won’t rebuild a country on that.

Why do you think so many students are still living with their parents ..?????

So you are telling me that the H1B employees actually are paid more than the Citizens that they replace?

People just do not know her background. The only good thing I can say about her is that she would be far far far better than Hillary as president. And she has done a very good job of attacking Hillary, and she is immune to be attacked as war on women.

When I was in college, studying architectural design, I had to take a course in construction management, my professor was an ex Sea-Bee - and he was an absolute prick, but he got the best out of you. In fact, you worked your butt off just to get a ‘C’ ... He never gave anybody an ‘A’ in the courses he taught. I managed to end my term with him having got an ‘A-’

Once upon a time our schools actually taught useful industrial education. That has almost completely disappeared. I have seen areas where there are large numbers of blacks and Latinos, but the Latinos are getting the jobs because they know how to do the work which they learned before they came here, but which our home grown blacks and whites, for that matter, no longer have the opportunity to learn in school.
