2. An anti-Trump ad deluge after Labor Day?
It's no secret the Republican establishment is unnerved by Donald Trump and his lead in national and key state polls.
And now, after weeks of assuming his support would be fleeting, there is a debate about how to take aim at Trump -- and just who should finance such an effort.
CNN's Maeve Reston noted that most GOP strategists see risks in having the attacks come from the other candidates or their directly affiliated super PACs. So, she reports, there is conversation about what other group might raise money for anti-Trump TV ads.
"There are a lot of donors out there who see it as much too dangerous, obviously, for the candidates, or their allied super PACs, to go after Trump," said Reston. "So they're looking to more establishment PACs to potentially take him down in post-Labor Day ads."
3. Bush is popular in the Hamptons, but has money problems elsewhere
Jeb Bush has a huge war chest and has enjoyed some summer fund-raising among the rich and famous in the Hamptons this month.

He's channeling Joan Rivers.
[I wish Joan had lived to see all this!]
I despise the GOPe, only slightly less than the Rats. They are all of bunch of suck bags. I like it when they call me for money. I never miss an opportunity to TOTALLY go off on them. For me, it is called therapy. 😱
Right on point. The GOPe attacks Trump, and by extension, they attack every American voter who supports him.
Does that even figure into their thinking? Nope. In their way of thinking, they own the voters, who will vote for whoever the GOPe tells them to.
This is why the establishment must, and will, fall.
GOP ... get ready to tumble
Mice voting to bell the alleycat.

I've gone through a similar progression of thought, concerning Trump. I remember poster C.N.N. putting up the very first post about Trump entering the race. I immediately jumped on him and cracked wise about it.
And then I actually listened to what Trump was saying.
Let's just say that over the course of a few short weeks, he completely made a believer of me. No one else is saying what he's saying, and none of the others, being beholden to their donors, will ever even attempt to accomplish the things he's set his sights on.
I'm not a Trump supporter. But if the GOPe does this -- and they are successful -- I'm done with any candidate they might support.
They seemingly have no concept how deeply they are despised by their own voters.
If Yeb’s got a “big war chest” I can see why workers are leaving because they aren’t being paid.
You’re right. Well stated.
I would love him to pick Cruz though.
He would DESTROY the dem vp candidate in a debate!!
If the GOP succeeds in attacking and taking down Trump the GOP will once and for all alienate 30-40% of their base rendering them winless in any important election for many many years to come
Well, they’ll still have the Latino vote. ;-)
I got my piece of mail from !Jeb! the other day. It went right into the trash. I will paste a picture of the Donald onto the next one and send it back.
If only the GOPe showed this much concern about homobama in 2008 and worked hard to defeat him as they are now to defeat Trump, then Trump wouldn’t even be necessary today.
Little Yebbie selling his country club comrades a seat at OUR table.
Same model that worked so well for dad and big bro.
The Gope should be thinking of how are going to beat the Dems. If they took Trump down as popular as he is what network is going to do it for them, CNN, MSNBC?
If they took Trump down, all his supporters would either not show up at the polls like what they did to Romney, or they would vote for the Dems, Or Trump would run 3rd party which might lead the GOP to become the Wigg party, dead as a doornail.
Don’t forget what they did to the Tea Party, combine tea party, Religious Right, and Libertarians and conservative Republicans fed up with GOPe lies, you have the makings for a revolt.
This from the same GOP that wants Trump to take a loyalty oath to the party.
Slams against Donald Trump are already backfiring. Every time some sniveling elite tries to take him down, his poll numbers go up.
That happens for two specific reasons:
1. Donald fights back. Hard.
2. The People see attacks against Trump as attacks against themselves and our country.
Trump has broken nearly all of the traditional rules of campaigning, and is re-writing the book as we speak. The press doesn't know what to make of it. Neither does the political class. They're both flummoxed and flailing for solutions to this unforeseen force of nature that's beset them. He's a threat to their cozy way of life like few others before him, and they're quivering in their boots, trying to hold it together.
Let the GOPe spend their money on attack ads. They're only going to make Donald stronger in the process, and piss off the American people that much more.
I don’t dislike Jeb as a person but I do for a president. He just doesn’t have the right stuff.
“I would love him to pick Cruz though.”
The Donald will need Cruz to be Majority leader in the Senate.
A better choice for VP (A job so easy even Joe Biden can do it pretty well) would be someone like Newt Gingrich, Ben Carson or even a Carly Fiorina. If he were younger I’d put Rudy Guilliani in that group because between Trump and Rudy G the Republicans might take New York
Just my thoughts
