The Bloomberg/Des Moines Register survey released on Saturday finds that the two are tied in Iowa caucus-goer support when voters first and second choices for the Republican coronation are combined.
Each is the first or second choice of 32 percent of respondents.
Trump won the poll overall, getting 23 percent support. Carson comes in second at 18 percent. The next-closest competitors are Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) at 8 percent each.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush are tied for fifth place with 6 percent support each. After them is Carly Fiorina at 5 percent, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) at 4 percent each.
Tenth place is a three-way tie between Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Trump and Carson, one bombastic and the other sometimes soft-spoken, could hardly be more different in their outward presentations, said J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co., who conducted the poll, according to Bloomberg.
Yet theyre both finding traction because they dont seem like politicians and theres a strong demand for that right now, she added.
Saturdays poll found that Trump is vastly improving his position in Iowa since launching his presidential campaign in June.
He is now rated favorably by 61 percent of Republican voters there, with 35 percent ranking him unfavorably.
The poll also found that 69 percent of first-time caucus-goers and 73 percent of Tea Party supporters are backing the outspoken billionaire.
It added that 29 percent would never vote for Trump, a number that has is half of what it was in the last Bloomberg/Des Moines Register sampling in May.
The survey found that Carson is buoyed in Iowa by his likable public persona and his vocal Christian faith.
It said that 79 percent likely GOP caucus-goers view the retired neurosurgeon favorably, the highest score in the GOPs entire 2016 field.
He also leads the hunt for Iowas evangelical demographic with 23 percent of their support.
Trump is currently the frontrunner for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination across multiple national polls.
The latest RealClearPolitics average of polls has the businessman with 23.5 percent support, and Carson in second place at 10.3 percent.
The article says that Carson is a Christian. I do not believe that is correct. No trinity then no Christian.
You 100%er’s are going to elect Hitlery.
You know, after the way I have seen people ripped to shreds for questioning ANYTHING about Trump’s beliefs, I don’t think calling a man, who speaks consistently about God, and his Christian upbringing by his mother, a path you want to take.
Carson considers himself a Christian, and according to what I’ve seen on this forum, who are you to say he’s not.
I like both. I also like that they’re not attacking each other much.
You 100%ers are going to elect Hitlery.
Because of massive voter fraud HELLary could be elected anyway..
No matter WHAT “WE” do.. UNLESS Trump’s team provides some voter fraud of their own...
Is Trump willing to do that?..
Say NO.. and you don’t know Trump..
By the way; The White House just ok’ed a deal for Trumps new building across the street from the White House..
How’d he do that?.. He’s not a democrat is HE?..
A stealth liberal?.. a ringer?..a MOLE?... a Bait and Switch asshole like Obama?..
NAH!... theres no evidence of THAT!..
The article says that Carson is a Christian. I do not believe that is correct. No trinity then no Christian.
what does that mean? he is seventh day adventist?
can we just vote for a person who has a high moral character in spite of their church doctrine. is he screwing animals?
i’m sorry i would vote for a horse that had high moral character, conservative principles , able to articulate these principles and and organize people around that ideal. where is mr ed?
Does the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and their prophetess Ellen G. White, teach the Biblical, orthodox doctrine of the Trinity? As we will see, the answer to that question is, “No”—despite the fact that the SDA Church now uses the term “Trinity.” (As for Ellen G. White, she was careful never to use the term in all of her published writings—a remarkable feat, considering her extensive plagiarism.) The reality is that Seventh-day Adventism is actually anti-Trinitarian and teaches Tritheism (three gods), just like the Mormons do.
Whoops! He is a Christian. I thought he was a Jehovah Witness. They are not Christians. 7th day Adventists are 100% Christians and they believe in the trinity. The Catholic Church considers them to be Christian so BEN CARSON IS A CHRISTIAN.
Sorry about the confusion.
I will say that Carson has been much more formidable than I expected.
I was afraid, much like Rush was, he was such a nice guy, he’d get swallowed up by this monster that is the primary process.
No matter which Conservative wins, the more of them we have at the end the better it is for the country.
See my other post. I have recanted. He is Christian and I made a mistake. He does accept the trinity.
I believe Ben Carson is a seventh day Adventist. According to their website, they believe in the Trinity.

Let’s not enter into the Conspiracy Kook range.
Trump is unelectable by the polls and until he does, which HE is SO UNLIKELY, he elects Hitlery.
You must be thinking about that guy that killed the two reporters.
No prob.
7th Day’s believe the Sabbath is on Saturday don’t they?
You are right. I thought he was Jehovah Witness.
I was wrong.
Why are Carson and Trump on opposite sides, much less at odds with each other?
