WASHINGTON -- Every sulfurous belch from the molten interior of the volcanic Trump phenomenon injures the chances of a Republican presidency. After Donald Trump finishes plastering a snarling face on conservatism, any Republican nominee will face a dauntingly steep climb to reach even the paltry numbers that doomed Mitt Romney.
It is perhaps quixotic to try to distract Trump's supporters with facts, which their leader, who is no stickler for dignity, considers beneath him. Still, consider these:
The white percentage of the electorate has been shrinking for decades and will be about 2 points smaller in 2016 than in 2012. If the Republicans' 2016 nominee does not do better than Romney did among nonwhite voters, he will need 65 percent of the white vote. Romney did even slightly worse among Asian-Americans than among Hispanics. Evidently minorities generally detected Republican ambivalence, even animus about them. This was before Trump began receiving rapturous receptions because he obliterates inhibitions about venting hostility.

“What do these guys drink all weekend while they write?”
In George Will’s case, urine.
Every attack on Trump from any direction makes him stronger. Please continue. I want him to win.
George, without Trump we lose. The country’s in bad shape. It’s not politics as usual.
“Every sulfurous belch from the molten interior of the volcanic Trump phenomenon”
Biased much Georgie? I’d say your sulphurous belches are stinking up the place.
I’ll play. If Will is right and we can only elect a fake capitulator and compromiser who only does what special interests instruct him to do. One who bows reverently to the all-powerful media. One who will ignore the will of those who elected him, I say “burn it down”. I’m tired of being lied to by those who pretend to be conservative, then play Will’s little game of shifting left to win the general.
People like George Will don’t even realize they’ve aided and abetted in the complete destruction of this Country that they vow they love. I can accept it from liberals..they’re idiots. But so called conservatives? Makes it worse.
Don’t know what GOP is doing or what they want from their shrinking “white” constituency. Blind allegiance maybe?
Peewee Herman hallucinating that he’s William F. Buckley.
In the real world :
G H W Bush was better than Dukakis
and would have been better than Bill Clinton
GW Bush was better than Gore and John Kerry
Anybody would be better than Hillary
Anybody would be better than Biden
You sound as if you are stuck on stupid
Really, why choose a lesser evil, Vote Cthulhu.
Im an amiable, low voltage atheist. I deeply respect religions and religious people. The great religions reflect something constant and noble in the human character, defensible and admirable yearnings. I am just not persuaded. Thats all.Enough people have repeated the notion of a man being judged by his enemies. It may not be universal, but in Wills case, it seems to say a lot.
George Will, last year
We are in an ideological war. From a Marxist viewpoint, an atheistic mind is already three-fourths conquered.
The Naked Communist, Chapter 12
Wouldn’t take much to turn Will into a girl.
Every sulfurous belch from the moldy interior of the pathetic RINO George Will
You sound as if you can only spout cliches.
Let me get this straight; If I don’t agree with you, it’s because I’m stupid.
Does that about sum it up?
” After Donald Trump finishes plastering a snarling face on conservatism, any Republican nominee will face a dauntingly steep climb to reach even the paltry numbers that doomed Mitt Romney.”
Translation: Now that Trump is pushing Walker into blessed oblivion my wife will be out of a job and we can kiss that cruise to New Zealand goodbye.
I wasn’t exactly impressed with your question as I don’t know what Bush has to do with any of this//disagreeing with me might be smart and it might be dumb only time will tell.
I just discovered today that all these years George Will has been a fake conservative. I found out he’s an atheist.
Conservatism is about preserving the great values and institutions with which we’ve been blessed. Apparently, he thinks God, Christianity, the commandments, the culture, the moral values, and all of that are irrelevant.
I guess he believes in having your figures balance on your spread sheet. Other than that, it’s all up in the air...and even the balance sheet is just personal whim.
Yeah, about three drinks.
[Will again shows his contempt for those outside his cultured class.]
Of this contempt for us you speak of, Will calls those of us who disagree with him, vulgar unwashed masses. By calling us this he retains his self championed position with the Rep/Dem elite and assures his place in the D.C. cocktail circuit.
