Fox Hosts Jump To Megyn Kelly's Defense After Trump Doubles Down (Geraldo, Perino, Powers...)
TPM ^ | 8/25/15 | CAITLIN MACNEAL

Though Fox News hosts remained largely silent during Donald Trump's first spat with Megyn Kelly, the channel's personalities were quick to defend their colleague Tuesday morning after Trump again decided to ridicule Kelly.

Trump had patched up his relationship with Fox after commenting that Kelly "had blood coming out of her wherever" during the first Republican presidential debate. However, on Monday night he said Kelly was "off her game" upon returning from vacation. He also retweeted a comment calling Kelly a "bimbo."

During "Fox and Friends" on Tuesday morning, co-host Brian Kilmeade said Trump's tweets attacking Kelly were "totally out of control" and "unwarranted."

"You cannot, you should not be going after her," he said. "He is totally out of bounds reigniting that fight. I don't know if he expects to get ratings out of that, or poll numbers, but he's not going to be successful."

Numerous hosts and contributors on Fox News followed suit with tweets defending Kelly and calling out Trump's retweet of a comment calling Kelly a "bimbo."

Kelly was entertaining at one time.. Now she is just plain Annoying.. She tries too hard to be the darling of FoxNews.. Her interview with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers was laughable.. He had her looking like the Bimbo she truly is. FoxNews has become Progressively Progressive.. I seldom watch anymore.

She decided to make her first story back a hit piece on Trump with no facts to back up her accusations. It was a 10 min commercial for Bush. She does not get a free pass for being a girl.

Hannity has been backing Trump, and Kilmeade stuck up for Trump in re: the McCain comments... Trump should do what Hannity suggests. Ignore the self-important Megyn. That will make a bigger point. Though I understand that the first thing she did when she got back was to find two people to slam Trump, and that was not wise.

Trump needs to be schooled as to the nuances of verbal combat. He is very smart, very confident. But he tends to attack always in the same spirit, with the same bluntness. This will delight many; but it will also offend others.

Someone needs to coach him as to when to use the verbal rapier rather than the bludgeon; when to wax softly; when to show his more quiet side, which projects sincerity, rather than anger; when to speak with a Celtic lilt in his voice--such as Errol Flynn--the swash-buckling character--romancing a Southern Belle in the moonlight.

This is not weakness; this is the art of communicating with different personalities, coming from different perspectives. It could well be the key to what he seeks.

“I’m sorry does anyone care about Meg Kelly. Trump should move on!”

I agree... ancient history.

Trump is starting to look like the little boy that pulls the girls pigtails.

Americans have more important issues to focus on than his spat with Kelly.

If Megyn Kelly had an 'editor'... that person should have looked at the questions ahead of time and TOLD Megyn that she was NOT IN THE DEBATE. She's NOT running for President - she wasn't on the stage... Megyn's question to Trump were out of line.

Megyn's boss (if he's not a grandstander too) should have explained Megyn was a moderator and her job was NOT TO MAKE NEWS... but to facilitate the process of the debate.

I'm ashamed of the way FOXNews handled the debates... I'm ashamed of the way old FOX men are rushing to the defense of a young woman who is perfectly capable of defending herself.

If she can't take the heat, she needs to get out of the kitchen. Old FoxMen around Megyn need to have faith in her ability to deal with Trump...

Nearly every show and pundit on Fox has been bashing and ridiculing Trump since Megyn left on vacation. He is just paying them back.

Trump has not ‘sided with obama against FOX’. Faux news has alienated themselves from him and his supporters.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Didn’t the Army teach you how to think?

Perhaps Romney can give him a lesson on how to be Presidential. The guy is a marketing/campaign genius and FReepers are giving him advice to just take it from the liberal media.

Now that is something which was not seen personally, no longer watch her show.

In that case, gut her and slice into fillets. Just see this as something of a childish snit on DT part when there are much larger fish to fry. Some small stunt which might make him stumble and fall. Then all he has built will begin to crumble leaving us nothing, nothing at all. Hopefully he will realize this and continue to march onward with a clearer head. Anger is not a bad thing if directed properly. Know that he is a brilliant business man compassionate when warranted...ruthless when needed. But is ruthless something needed at this time?
Just a few thoughts. Perhaps I should, once again attempt to catch her show and get the take from the source. Having liked her, once, she has changed in the time she has been there. Or maybe it is just me who has changed. Anyway her pedestal is not nearly so high as it was once.

For all the talk of Trump Derangement Syndrome, this is where this collectivist groupthink comes in. Again, I agree a lot of these people are establishment. But is Sean Hannity, who as been defending Trump? As goofy as Geraldo is, he didn’t say anything different than what some Trump supporters have said. Stop getting caught up in the petty fights.

BOR, Mr. Smarter than you and I let you know it, couched his immigration question to Trump last night saying children of illegals born here are citizens and then went on. The truth of that is he is FOS on that issue. It is not settled, it has never been decided and never even raised at the SC.

Trump is correct it does not have to be decided at the SC either. Congress can easily pass a law saying they are legal citizens (or not). Of course if they do it now, our tanned sociopath in the whitehouse will veto it.

You are largely right. But Trump needs to understand the nuances of handling an impetuous, over reaching young woman with a pretty face. If he handled her like Rhett Butler handled Scarlett O'Hara, when she was out of line (I don't mean as her husband); he would actually have a bit of fun, and clearly establish which of them had "their act together."

She is a pretty girl; she is also intelligent. But she is willful, and unable to appreciate what is really significant and what is not. Answer her with a wry smile. (Yes, that will drive the militant feminists--who aren't voting Republican next year, anyway--wild; but it will amuse everyone else.)

It was OK to say that he (Trump) liked her replacement after her first two guests slammed Trump. No The Donald should move on. Pick on someone who is fun to pick on, like he did this morning with Lindsey Graham,... "Congratulations you are only 26 points behind me" (in South Carolina - new poll)

Megyn is becoming one of Rush's annoying Feminazis, and truly need to be ignored.
