It is tempting to dismiss the latest anti-choice salvo from Ohio lawmakers, which would criminalize abortions based on a fetal diagnosis of Down syndrome, as a blatantly unconstitutional ploy that would never be enforced.
That would be a mistake. The bill stands a disturbingly good chance of approval this fall by the states Republican-controlled legislature
A similar bill passed in North Dakota in 2013 bans abortions on the grounds of fetal genetic anomalies, including Down syndrome. The law has not yet been enforced under existing Supreme Court precedent it is hard to see how it could be but as with so many restrictions on a womans right to choose, that is not the only measure of its power. In fact, a significant majority of women who receive a fetal diagnosis of Down syndrome choose to abort their pregnancy. A smaller percentage choose to carry the fetus to term. In both cases, it is a personal decision.

LOL!! So says the person who wrote post #2.
Thanks Old Sarge. Y’know, banning laws against theft because they impose difficulties on otherwise unemployed people who rely on stealing from others is just really awfully darned unconstitutional.

We have friends, a Baptist minister and his wife, who have adopted three special needs children, two of them have Downs Syndrome. I can think of two other Protestant families we know with Downs children. You must not get out much. ;)
To Bluewater2015: There you were, watching that pretty blue-tinged water swirl in your toilet bowl as it took away the best part of you.
Suddenly, you had a brilliant (to you) thought .... "I'll post this neato pro-abortion article I just read in my favorite newsrag, the NY Times, on FreeRepublic and Troll a bit this morning."
As you sat down again on your throne, reading FR on your Obamaphone and admiring your posted handiwork, you noticed a tingling starting in your legs.
Glancing in the bathroom mirror to self-check that you weren't Chrissy Matthews sitting on his throne and dreaming about Obama, you were suddenly overcome by a vague feeling of doom.
Then, out of the 2015 blue sky came a bolt of lightning that Zotted your sorry butt into oblivion, and beyond.
Your sad-sack comments on FreeRepublic are so repugnant that you don't even deserve to be sent the obligatory FR ButtHurt form.
It wouldn't be of use to you anyway, as the remaining burnt and charred parts of you swirl around and around in that blue-tinged water of your throne.
“Supposedly there are less than 200,000 little people living in the US today. Ive seen places claim the abortion rate for them is around 90%.”
Do you mean that 90% of babies identified as having dwarfism are aborted or that female little people abort 90% of their pregnancies? I could see pregnancy for a little person could be a very dangerous thing.
Or the perhaps92% are to high on lesser evil to make a judgement call, Sparky.
Me: BTW, for some odd reason I suspect that you tenure here may be soon to end ...
Thee: You wouldnt think so if youve read my posts on same-sex marriage. Thats a real affront.
ROFL!!!
Water and electricity simply don’t mix...
He had a certain rancid stench about him ...
The stench of a big, fat, unhygenic, drooling, shambling, blathering and driveling Nazi TROLL.
On this forum, one quickly learns to associate that stench with “incoming”.
I tried to warn him ...
Yup. But personally I think people like that should be encouraged into self electrocution. The sooner FR returns to its conservative roots instead of becoming a hangout for liberals playacting at conservatism, the better for America.
90% of babies with various genetic markers denoting dwarfism and other size traits.
Freegards
Ahhh....the kittiehs must be hungry this morning! nomnom..
You can take your "this is the one ground for abortion that most Americans agree on" and stick it where the sun don't shine!
It was just another attack on Prots.
Yeah and it was kind of random and out of left field.
As always.
I belong to the church that Christ made, why would I go to a pretend church? ...and Peter, on this rock....
Yup, the national socialists put human lives down to money. Sacrifice to Mammon or else.
