Trump: I wanted Bush impeached (2008)
CNN ^ | October 15th, 2008 | Alexander Mooney

Posted on 08/25/2015 10:21:05 AM PDT by justlittleoleme

Business mogul Donald Trump told CNN Wednesday House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should have sought to impeach President Bush when she had the chance.

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Trump said the president and his administration deliberately lied about the Iraq war, and congressional Democrats missed an opportunity to impeach him when the party took control of Congress in 2006.

"I was surprised that she didn't do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush," Trump said. "It was almost - it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing."

Pressed why he feels Bush deserved the punishment faced by only two other commanders-in-chief, Trump said the president misled the country in the run-up to the Iraq war, and that his actions were considerably more objectionable than those which led to the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

"He lied. He got us into the war with lies," Trump said. And I mean - look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true."

Good on Trump. And if W had been impeached, Dick Cheney would be President. And run for re-election. And won.

Lessee. Who would I prefer to have been elected in 2008? Dick Cheney or barky?

Sorry TDS sufferers. Nice try, no traction.

The republicans have the majority in cogress if he can’t force a bill when he’s president then we’ll all eat shot for another 4 years. The leadership of the republicans in congress has to change I there is a mandate that’s a possibility.

I suppose y0u have a winning scenario that has the republicans ridding up on their white chargers and saving us poor damsels in distress.

You need to study up on how money orders are bought and transferred to other countries.

You don’t get a leadership change in Congress by electing a President (unless said President is a leader of Congress or chooses a VP who is a leader.) You don’t a “conservative mandate” by electing someone with a questionable record on conservative touch-stone issue.

Read my post again. If Mr. Trump comes out and says “I can push Congress to make true reforms because I have allies on both sides of the aisle” OR if he said “I will veto anything coming across my desk that doesn’t include funding for the wall”, THEN I would be ok with his statements. But that’s not what he’s saying.

I’m tired of living in a dictatorship. Give me back my Republic.

So let me get this straight. Trump’s comments are ok because Bush wasn’t conservative enough for some on FR. The irony there is astounding.

You don’t impeach a President for not being conservative/liberal/cute enough. That’s a reason not to vote for someone, not to impeach.

A presidential election can effect the other offices. I’m tired of being a remedial teacher. I’m out.

Maybe they should have impeached him. We would have had Dick Cheney for President! : )

FRegards then. Maybe when you are less tired you can point to which President since LBJ has had the juice to impose his will on the Congress? A “Sea Change” election where a President sweeps others on the ticket into office can only help with the House and 1/3 of the Senate. In this case you still have McConnell and Cornyn to deal with in the Senate. In other words: the leadership. The Washington cartel will still be in full effect.

Do I like it? Nope. Do I think we should vote for the candidate who has the best chance of working with the Washington cartel? HELL NO. But I want people to be very clear that when they vote for Trump or Cruz they are voting for more government shut-downs, more acrimony, and a hell of a lot more partisan bickering.

I’m fine with that. I WANT it. I’m also very fine with a candidate who makes promises he can actually keep via the Constitution. Mr. Trump so far has failed to do that.

Give me a guy who has a history of standing up to those two, rather than the guy who changes his comments on matters depending on the winds of public opinion.

Not true.

He’s been a registered Republican for 17 of the last 29 years
A registered Indy for 4 of those years
and a registered Democratic for a whopping 8 years.

Fail

Fail? Hardly.

The original poster said, "trump has always been a Republican."

That was entirely untrue and I proved it. Moreover, the information you provided in your lame post proves it as well.

If there was a "fail" it was your lame attempt to be arrogant when you lack the ability to comprehend what was in my post or even your own. You do make a great Trump supporter, though.

Thanks for the laughs.

Our country is on the ropes corrupted by political elites of both Parties and the oligarchs that pull their crony capitalist chains...like it or not.

They and their media keep the sheep arguing about the silly stuff, while they proceed to change the face of our country (their words) through fraudulent immigration, and massively in-debt us while we are forced to bail them out from their malfeasance, and they pigeon hole people who don’t quite buy Party line like the Tea Party as enemies of their (not our) state.

If Trump manages to shatter the Republican party into a thousand pieces. The GOP only has itself to blame.

To be honest I do not completely trust Trump. He has no conservative street creds. But neither do the other candidates with the exception of Ted Cruz.
