If America Goes Down the Toilet: I'm Blaming Lame Pastors
Townhall.com ^ | August 16, 2015 | Doug Giles

Our country is in a crap sling of gastronomical proportions. I was going to say astronomical but this thing is more gassy than it is interplanetary.

You wanna know how messed up we’ve become?

Well, for one, Kim Kardashian has 43 million followers on Instagram just waiting for her to post a pic of her ample ass-ets. Secondly, social media dipsticks think Cecil The Lion’s plight was/is more important than Planned Parenthood's dealing aborted baby body parts. Thirdly, there are actually people in this country, who call themselves Americans, who’re contemplating making Hillary Clinton president.

Look, as far as I’m concerned, Hillary shouldn’t be allowed to sell moon crickets at Skeeter’s Bait Shop on Lake Pontchartrain, much less run our nation; and if this was 1773 that evil clown would have been jailed for treason and left to rot in jail until her teeth turned brown.

In addition to peeps actually contemplating Hillary for President, the Right’s answer to the potential Hildebeest acid-trip is Donald Trump.

Now, don’t get me wrong … I love what Trump is doing both to the Left and the Right, in stirring the putrid political pot, but I’m a guessin’ that even Trump has to be befuddled that he has to pony up to fix this slop.

So, how’d we arrive at such a gloomy place, where we would elect Obama twice, a junior state senator whose claim to fame was writing two books about himself: and where many are actually thinking about heaving Hillary’s haggard backside into the Oval Office to sit behind the same desk where Bill shagged Monica?

While everyone is running around playing pin the blame-tail on the donkey, trying to super-glue responsibility for our nation’s decades long complicated demise, I’d like to put the church at the top of the culpability flow chart. Yes, I blame the brethren, in particular ministers, for not stemming the tide on our nation’s abysmal slide.

The last 40-plus years of ecclesiastical “influence” has allowed for political corruption to take place that would’ve never seen the light of day from pastors who were here during our country’s conception. Yep, the majority of ministers that were kicking around during our nation's founding and framing wouldn’t have let this smack go down on their watch. Oh, hell no.

No, matter of fact, America’s early ministers, unapologetically, poured lighter fluid on our original revolt against political tyrants. They weren’t ministers who were preaching for financial profit, longing to be Charisma magazine’s playmate of the month, but were instead veritable founts of political offense if you were peddling enslavement to government goons. Yes, they were holy, ticked-off fire-brands unafraid to rebuke political pigs that wished to enslave us.

The original pastors were rebels. Our current crop of clergy are like Obadiah’s “prophets” hiding in caves from Hillary… I mean Jezebel. The New England clergy fueled The American Revolution because they loved this thing called liberty and independence more than life and they had no problem whatsoever destroying political pariahs who sought to enslave people to big government jackasses.

If America is going to go forward into greatness then the Elijahs of God are going to have to come forth and get a whip and start clearing the punks.

There is a reason why the preachers have become lame and it is the real answer: the collection basket.

Speak the truth in preach and RISK losing folks and that MONEY which is very important to get by the other 6 days of the week.

They may be sold out to the world, but don’t expect many Americans to sit under Biblical preaching: It’s pretty sad when you can’t find the truth preached even from Evangelical & Protestant pulpits. How many real sermons on Abortion, Adultery, Birth Control, Charity, Children, Debt, Discernment, Discipline, Divorce, Evil, Fornication, Judgment, Purity, Prophecy, or Works have you heard recently? How many pastors preach against the government’s encroachment? How many are in jail for Christ? It’s coming...

Modern Protestantism should be called pick-and-choose-ism. God is love, and the IRS is His arbiter. Filing as a 501C3 does not grant non-profit status; it only provides a corporate shield against personally liability. After all, you can’t expect church officers to be personally responsible!

Got to remember that those folks you speak of in question are now are let’s just say are “growing older” and will fade out in time.

A century or more of so-called progressives trying to make Christ a blond, blue-eyed hippie peacenik hasn’t helped.

>>Modern Protestantism should be called pick-and-choose-ism.

Because the other side of Christianity is led by a Marxist who calls himself the Vicar of Christ? At least the Protestants still have something to choose.

I am not Catholic, just a simple man who has attended many churches across the country. God chooses his own and chastises those whom he loves. Those in leadership understand their responsibility, and they will have to make a choice. There is always a faithful remnant.

Cardinal Dolan came out and dissed Trump early on, shows where they’re at.

This is particularly true in the Black “community.”

Supposedly, Black ministers wield tremendous influence; yet, they have been silent spectators to the decline of their “people”—Content to feed off crumbs from the table of power.

Judgement Day will be harsh for these false prophets.

So am I, but there are already many voices on FR declaring your faith should not have anything to do with how you vote.

Many right here on FR will attack you with vengeance if you point out that their choice is not. How dare you nay say merely because their choice does not follow Biblical principal/teachings. Then they attack you claiming you do not love America and you are one of those bible thumpers who wish to bring us another ‘Jimmy Carter’.

As foretold the time of hatred for all that adhere to word has come and we are now under attack by many including those who hate American as well as those who say they love it.

Thank God, they are—they can protect their pastors.

Pastors were the voice of the American Revolution. The Tories had their pastors as did the German Christians under Hitler, but we need American Christians led with the courage of Bonheoffer’s Confessing Church. The time for cowardice and accommodation is over.

Side note, temp thread jack: what is the deal with spelling G-d instead of God?

It's an attempt to fool God into thinking you aren't referencing him.

Let’s face it.

There is a timeline, I’m sure, that someone can make, from the time that Billy Graham started slowing down, and nobody else started picking up his slack, but all these christian I.N.O. folks started standing up.

I could point to the ‘80’s, when society (and no internet then) started pushing back, and no one really took the push anymore than just nuts. But the precedents have been set since, and today, are just so many stepping stones to the next level.

For every one tent preacher, there were 20 ‘established’ pastors struggling to keep folks, so they could continue their own little green lawn, their established title and rank in town, and their current living style. oh, did i forget their ‘calling and duty’? No, but they had, maybe, in the vortex of their societal position.

Makes a good point, but I blame everyone who is still paying taxes rather than refusing to enable the tyrant-vampires by withholding that lifeblood.
Yes, that includes me. I pay taxes. I pay the salaries of evil people whom the Founders would have cut down, or hanged from lampposts, in some order. I fund abortions. I subsidize moochers foreign and domestic.
I am too ashamed of myself to be pointing to what’s in anyone else’s eye.

The only one that has really started to pick up the Rev. Billy Graham’s slack, once he slowed down is his son, Franklin.

My observation is that “pastors” are universally charlatans who don’t know the first thing about the Bible and couldn’t cite the Ten Commandments if you asked them, and a great many of them are sexual predators as well. If there’s a real church in the US, it’s underground and in hiding - as it probably has to be to survive these political conditions.

As a Jew I cannot write the name of G_D. There are other names that could be used but most Christians would have no ideal who I was talking about. No one knows the true name “I AM that I AM”
