Mondays big election law news came from the Supreme Courts penultimate decision of the term upholding Arizonas congressional districts.
But before handing down its last three decisions, the court made voting-rights advocates happy by deciding not to review a different election case.
Arizona citizens can continue to participate in voter registration drives without worrying about not having proof of citizenship documents, Shirley Sandelands, of the League of Women Voters of Arizona, said in a statement Monday.
The case, Kobach, et al. v. Election Assistance Commission, et al., was about whether Arizona and Kansas could require voters to prove their citizenship when registering to vote with the so-called federal form. Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach led the suit against the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, which was an appeal of a lower court decision.
Both Kansas and Arizona have state laws that require applicants to prove their citizenship when applying to vote with state forms (for state or federal elections). But the U.S. EAC denied the states requests to have their citizenship laws applied when would-be voters use the standardized federal form.

The Constitution was as close to a perfect blueprint for freedom as has ever existed in history. However, it is dead. Honest elections are also dead. America as a free country may be dead - unless we can turn this around quickly.
Perhaps it’s time to figure out how to do better next time around.

Let me guess.. 5-4.
Someone needs to get Anthony Kennedy a blowup doll, a punching bag or something. He is seriously taking his frustrations out on America.

At this point, what is in it for a state to remain part of the Union?

Well, hell, let’s just abolish the charade of elections altogether. The elites can work out a turn system or just draw lots.

This did not prohibit using the Arizona State form from being used, it just prohibited the state from mandating that organizations use the state provided form and allowed them to use the Federal form instead.
Congress needs to pass a law requiring proof of citizenship on all voter registration forms used throughout the United States, regardless if it is a state or Federal form. Problem solved.

Er no one is saying Americans cannot vote, what we are saying is that people have to prove they are eligible to vote.

Why are the states abiding by the laws ?
It has come time for the stats to leave this federal union IMO.

"Perhaps its time to figure out how to do better next time around."DannyTN's suggestions:
- Split the President into a Domestic President and an international affairs President which would have Commander In Chief Respnsibiities.
- Ban or limit the Feds from having domestic police forces.
- Ban Congress from owning foreign equities or bonds.
- Pay Congress and the President a bonus based on the following:
- Growth in GNP
- Growth in median household salary. (Households mean divorces hurt their bonus).
- Percent of working age working full time or independently wealthy.
- Set up a Judicial review committee under the Executive to look for judicial activism and recommend and make the case for impeachments to Congress.
- Set up a constitutional rights commission answerable to Congress that polices the Executive agencies for constitutional rights abuses.
- Change the standing laws so that people who will be affected have standing before a law actually does injury.
