The debate over why Jews vote the way that they do is an old one, but its rarely backed by much data except the estimates of the Jewish vote from the last election.
There is, however, one piece of data that currently predicts the Jewish vote. Its religious attendance.
60 percent of Jews that attend weekly religious services disapprove of Obama. Only 34 percent approve.
Among those who dont attend religious services, approval of Obama stood at 58 percent to 38 percent.
There are really two Jewish votes; the religious Jewish vote and the secular Jewish vote.
...
When we break it down by behaviors and beliefs, the Jewish vote is not that different than the overall American vote. What is different is the balance of behaviors and beliefs in the Jewish community.
Only 11 percent of American Jews attend religious services weekly. Among Americans in general, its over 40 percent...
American Jews had become a liberal outlier globally as Jews in the UK, Canada, Israel and Australia were voting conservative. And Jewish communities in those countries also tend to be relatively more traditional and religious than in the United States.
UK Jews are more than twice as likely to attend synagogue services weekly as American Jews.
...
When asked what it means to be Jewish, 56 percent of American Jews mentioned social justice, 42 percent mentioned comedy and only 43 percent mentioned Israel. 28 percent mentioned being part of a Jewish community. Only 19 percent mentioned anything involving religion.
People with Jewish last names for whom being Jewish is leftist politics and a joke should not be expected to care about Israel. If being Jewish means nothing to them, why would the Jewish State?

Well, are these true Jews with genetic roots back to the 12 Tribes?
Or are they Khazar Jews who are descended from a Caucasian ethnicity that adopted Judaism for political and economic power (so they wouldn’t have to fight the Muslims on one side of their empire and the Christians on the other side)?
I think a lot of Jewish Americans who are not practicing Jews and who are hardcore secularists (that is, JINOs) and who use their “Jewish heritage/culture” to push a socialist/communist agenda have more in common with the character of the Khazars than they do the Jews I study in the Old Testament.
So. Is this saying one group is Jewish "for convenience" and the other is "for conviction?"
I am one of the proud 38%.

Same general trend with Christians.
It is the chronic behavior of an alienated, historically persecuted distinct minority that no matter how successful or woven into a culture, have a primordial fear of sudden persecution, expulsion and death.
This is a difference in self-perception between what might be called "growing-up Christians," meaning people who grew up in families that thought of themselves in Christian terms, and "growing-up Jews." When a "growing-up Christian" stops attending church and abandons Christian doctrine, that person ceases to think of him/herself as a Christian, but when a "growing-up Jew" stops attending synagogue and abandons Jewish doctrine, that person continues to think of him/herself as a Jew.
However...while those in the Christian community (including me) make a distinction between practicing Christians and lapsed or nominal Christians, Muslims make no such distinction: to a Muslim, everyone who grew up Christian is a Christian, regardless of belief, and everyone who grew up a Jew is a Jew, regardless of belief. So if/when the day comes that Ameristan arises out of the ashes of America, all progressives who did not think of themselves as Christians will be treated just the same as people who proclaim themselves as Christians, ditto for progressive Jews. When your enemy rules over you, you are what your enemy says you are.
Evan Sayet has the operative theory on Jews and their voting, IMO. He points out that among religions, Jews are quite unique in that there is no requirement to do anything or to act a certain way to be “Jewish”. All that has to happen is that you emerge from a Jewish womb. He calls them “plopping Jews”. I found that an interesting observation.
Yup....both in Europe and America. I am as guilty as the other Jews and Christians who don't worship regularly. Intellectually (how I see my faith) I can say I'm right (for my own personal reasons...which I don't share).
But also intellectually, looking at western society, the abandonment of Judeo-Christian affiliation is leading to the destruction of that society.... And nature abhorring a vacuum, I see those that need that structure, running to the highly structured Muslims (structured evil)
Liberalism has become its own religion for jerks like Jon Stewart. That is why he is often anti Israel. Stewart
is one of Obama’s biggest supporters and it doesn’t matter
that Obama hates Israel.
Pretty much not a “Jewish” thing, but an atheist thing,
independent of ancestry.
Obviously Obama’s actions and beliefs are anti-Scripture,
but only those who know and believe Scripture would understand this.
Titus destroyed the genealogical records when he destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD. Nobody can verify that they go back to Abraham.
Wish I could recall the name of the Jewish comic who made this observation.
“There are plenty of people who identify and wish to be known as Jewish. They just don’t want to be bothered by this God guy hanging around.”
Some whites like to identify themselves as Jews so they could be considered a minority, even don’t practice the religion at all
I am reminded of a story my father told about his days as a beach attendant at one of Atlantic City’s gracious old hotels back in the city’s pre-casino heyday.
One of his favorite regulars was a Jewish woman, who lived at the hotel a good part of the vacation season. Late in the season she stopped coming to the beach, but he knew she had not checked out, and when she returned, he inquired why. She explained that it has been the High Holy Days, and explained their nature. He observed that several other Jewish guests (he gave names in his telling, but I’ve forgotten them) had continued to come to the beach, and she made a disgusted noise and said, “They’re not Jews, they’re kikes!”
The odd use of a word normally taken to be an antisemitic slur by a pious Jewish woman points to exactly the phenomenon Greenfield is discussing: Jews whose Jewishness is limited to anti-Christianity. (Illiterate Jews used to use a circle as a signature in place of the X illiterate Christians used, from which the pejorative word, whether used as in this story or as an antisemitic slur, derived).
Liberalism is the political expression of
the religion of Humanism
which began with the lie
“you will be as gods, knowing good and evil”
which means, you can make your own rules
and not abide by God’s rules.
Or maybe, like their white Christian counterparts, they really have drank the Kool-Aid of the PC suicide pact.
I was listening to Beck yesterday to hear a guy from Liberty Institute talk about how many Federal laws will kick in if SCOTUS rules in favor of gay marriage (depends a lot on how they word their opinion). He was telling people that the churches need to defend themselves ... mission statement, purpose statement, facility use policy, church bylaws & constitution & employment/administrative policies should all be consistent in setting forth sincere religious beliefs with consistent adherence to those policies that are adopted in order to avoid legal problems that arise from applying a double standard. (Here’s the link if you’d like to explore further: https://www.libertyinstitute.org/church-audits )
All of this being said, when I read through the template documents, despite being LCMS, I think more than a few folks in the church I attend would have a hard time agreeing with what is set forth in the policies on same sex, transgender, sex outside of marriage, etc. Being people of faith (Jewish or Christian) is more likely to cause disapproval with Obama’s policies since they are in direct conflict with God’s Word, but speaking from experience, there are an awful lot of “casual” Christians out there who let such matters on sex, abortion, marriage (and sin in general) slide and are ‘liberal’ and I would strongly suspect they vote Democrat (social justice & all that stuff). One of the saddest parts of the Bible is in the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus talks about the last day when many who were convinced they knew Christ will be told, Depart from me, I never knew you. There is nothing casual about true Christianityyoure either in it, all the way, or youre tragically on the outside and in grave peril.
