The fascinating Rachel Dolezal story has more layers than one of those flaky Pillsbury biscuits. Shes the president of the Spokane, Wash., chapter of the NAACP and a professor of African American studies at Eastern Washington University, who was outed as not actually being African American. Her years of deception came to an end after her inability to answer a simple question at the end of an interview with KXLY television reporter Jeff Humphrey. Are you an African American? he asked. After a long, blinkless and blank stare, Dolezal said, I dont understand the question.
Chil, please!
Dolezal most definitely understood the question, which is why she took flight 16 seconds after Humphreys query. She posted a picture of herself last January with a black man on her Facebook page who she claimed was her father. And she checked African American and all the other race choices on an application for a public position in Spokane. Those turned out to be two loose threads that quickly unraveled once pulled by Humphrey and Dolezals own white parents.

Do not judge a person by the color of their skin, but by the size of their nostrils.
I wonder if a new mental disorder will be named for her?
*SNORT*
‘Dolezal Syndrome,’ claiming to be a race that you’re not.
Lol. who isnt?
why shouldn’t we allow people to self-identify by race
I think the crime is “impersonating a privileged minority”.
She has put them in a very untenable position.
If they fire her, it will be because she is white.
If they keep her on then they are saying that the charade was okay.
Oh, the irony is lovely................
I’m a duck.
and you just had the greatest idea to prove how silly gay marriage is. Pair up males and females with no interaction with each other of a species and see how quickly they become extinct
Ever since this PC garbage began prying into our personal lives I have marked "Native American" on any application I filled out.
( after all, I was born in Oakland, CA)
What’s the problem? She’s no more fake than Lizzie Warren.
Years ago I remember knowing an attractive Jewish girl. She had straight brown hair and no one would ever question her being white. One day she introduced me to her sister. She had darker skin, a huge afro and spoke like a ghetto black though it was easy to tell it was put on.
Some white people like to pretend they are black.
Just like Sen. Elizabeth Warren made up a story about being a native American.
Actually, the real damage she’s done is trigger memories of wasted time/money going to see a movie called “Soul Man.”
In Maryland we call them whiggers. It is an insult.
Aren’t there any whites in the NAACP any more? I thought I heard it’s founders and first board members were white liberals from New England.
It is impossible to say for sure but in her case it could have started from a genuinely positive mindset — a desire to improve services to minority communities and help those in need more generally which would be more complicated as an outsider. Something must have changed from the parents’ perspective, though, to give them cause to come forward now.
Wat u say?
My recollection is that Senator Robert Byrd (D-KKK) had a similar term for them as well.
In her case, probably an aging Volvo.
The strange thing is that with all the shifting sands of acceptable terminology (Black, Negro, Nigra, Colored, Person of Color) we end up with “African-American”, which actually only indicates an ancestral continent and a current (possibly) nationality.
Is a descendent of Boers living in Argentina also an “African-American”?
We have a blond-haired, blue-eyed, fully Caucasian daughter who was born in Kenya and is a US citizen. More “African” than Jesse Jackson and more American that Obama.
“African-American” is a term which gained favor in the late 1960’s. Can you imagine the NAACP being named the “National Association for the Advancement of Africa-Americans”?
NAAAA!

Change your handle to SampleDuck, then.
And here's a female impersonating an Eskimo...
