In a remarkable rejection of a president they have resolutely backed, House Democrats voted to kill assistance to workers displaced by global trade, a program their party created and has stood by for four decades. By doing so, they brought down legislation granting the president trade promotion authority the power to negotiate trade deals that cannot be amended or filibustered by Congress before it could even come to a final vote.
We want a better deal for Americas workers, said Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the House minority leader who has guided the presidents agenda for two terms and was personally lobbied by Mr. Obama until the last minute.
Well that moots the debate on the purity of a number of candidates.
Is this a fact???
Did Boehner cry 96 tears?
He’s going to be really mad when he finds out about this in the newspaper.
Democrats did the right thing for the wrong reason. They wanted to protect the unions; they weren’t worried about the secret transnational governance and treaty issues. The GOP has no such excuse for being O’s primary supporters here.
I suspect the dems have concluded the next POTUS will be a Republican and have decided they need to start placing some limits on executive authority...
I don’t understand this whole thing. Democrats turned down the President? My whole world has flipped.
House Democrats rebuffed a dramatic personal appeal from President Obama on Friday, torpedoing his ambitious push to expand his trade negotiating power and, quite likely, his chance to secure a legacy-defining trade accord
...
Dramatic?
And I believe his legacy has already been defined as the most destructive, race dividing marxist we’ve ever had as president.
Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let’s sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again
Altogether shout it now
There’s no one
Who can doubt it now
So let’s tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again
I think you’re right.
You’re world has flipped? I want to on this site thank my esteemed congresswoman, Marcia Fudge, for voting against this travesty.
TPA though passed.
The world truly has turned upside down.
This time I don’t care why they did it!
