In a remarkable rejection of a president they have resolutely backed, House Democrats voted to kill assistance to workers displaced by global trade, a program their party created and has stood by for four decades. By doing so, they brought down legislation granting the president trade promotion authority — the power to negotiate trade deals that cannot be amended or filibustered by Congress — before it could even come to a final vote.

“We want a better deal for America’s workers,” said Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the House minority leader who has guided the president’s agenda for two terms and was personally lobbied by Mr. Obama until the last minute.

House Democrats rebuffed a dramatic personal appeal from President Obama on Friday, torpedoing his ambitious push to expand his trade negotiating power — and, quite likely, his chance to secure a legacy-defining trade accord

...

Dramatic?

And I believe his legacy has already been defined as the most destructive, race dividing marxist we’ve ever had as president.

I have a different take on this. I think Obama and Pelosi collaborated to make sure this bill wasn’t passed even though Obama was supposedly for this.
Pelosi is now a hero for listening to the American people who clearly didn’t want this monstrosity.
The pubes got taken again. It’s like major baseball against the little league.

It’s somewhat unnerving I find myself agreeing with the dims on this....although for entirely different reasons.

“House Democrats voted to kill assistance to workers displaced by global trade, “

Yes, put them on welfare. Very nice. Thanks a lot.

I can’t believe that I am happy about Pelosi right now. I’m stunned.

Pelosi made a deal with Boehner to try and pass TPP. In the end out, Boehner was out maneuvered by his own hubris and the Dems come up smelling like roses.

“So Pelosi and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, cut a deal. Neither side promised a certain number of votes to the other. But both House leaders forged a plan which could conceivably reward both sides with a political victory and concurrently test their respective abilities to gin up votes. Pelosi and Boehner engineered a deal to advance the trade framework to the floor – so long as Democrats scored a vote on something called Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA).”

Very good article by Chad Pergram about the political wheeling dealing that blew up in Boehner’s face. It’s worth the read at Fox News. Good for posting at the FRP news site

...said Representative Nancy Pelosi of California...

What? I am on the same side as Pelosi? This must be a trap.
Either that, or the universe is getting ready to implode.

The Stupid Party fails once again. The Dems have positioned themselves as the party that protects American workers despite the fact that they favor mass immigration and amnesty, which hurt the American worker far more than anything else.

The Stupid Party remains the plutocrats defending the corporations and the wealthy. Is it any wonder that the Reps will not win a Presidential election for many years to come?

And we all know that this will all go the way of Obama after some phony fixes are made to protect American workers. This is all theater.
