Hmmmm ... hundreds of thousands of immediate jobs, very little expense ... no environmental impact ... California gets water
"Ive always felt that a nation wide system of pipes would be an answer. An overall plan for the nation, with each state doing its part. A system where collected water from flooded, or over watered areas could be directed to needy areas. Jobs for many, but floods and droughts averted. Just a thought."
And it sure looks like something that we could discuss
How are you going to get it past the environmentalists?
Do light bubs emit light or do they absorb dark?
I live in Texas. We use what we have and don’t use what we don’t.
Floods are an awfully hit or miss source of water to rely on. Building a nationwide system of pipes that may not see use for decades at a time would be more than just a little prohibitively expensive.
Past an environmentalist ?
We'll tap into the line every hundred miles or so and hose 'em down ... cool 'em off
One cool, unlimited (sort of) shower to an asshole and he'll come around
From where to where? I am in the Northeast and we have gobs of water. But it would be insane to try to move it further west.
Desalinization seems to be the most effective and efficient method to date. But getting factories made on SO-CAL beaches seems to be a non starter.
Maybe they can build them in Mexico and bring the water north in tankers.
The worlds largest and cheapest reverse-osmosis desalination plant is up and running in Israel.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper for people to just move to the wet areas?
.
On the west coast, a siphon pipe could easily be buried in the ocean just off shore.
Way easier than trenching cross country.
.
Californicate needs to talk to Israel about water.
Here in SW Pa, we have a lot of water .... and the Mississippi can be tapped, and the Ohio
Look ... I'm not saying it's the magic pill ... but it IS an idea I think engineers could discuss
.

Just run a big hose through the ocean.
Never said it was new ... just confessed I never thought of it before
Let CA die of thirst. They have enough water, let them stop mismanaging it.
What about still-suits and death-stills?
variation of Occam’s Razor -
if it was so simple and straightforward, it would have been done already
... with some politician (probably a Democrat) claiming credit
If the Democrat politicians and and their spouses can get rich off the project - it might stand a chance of being approved.
CA seems intent on importing its population from Mexico, let them stick a big straw down there for those peoples needs.
