The FDNY for the first time in its history will allow someone who failed its crucial physical-fitness test to join the Bravest, The Post has learned.
Rebecca Wax, 33, is set to graduate Tuesday from the Fire Academy without passing the Functional Skills Training test, a grueling obstacle course of job-related tasks performed in full gear with a limited air supply, an insider has revealed.
“They’re going to allow the first person to graduate without passing because this administration has lowered the standard,” said the insider, who is familiar with the training.
Upon graduation, Wax would be assigned to a firehouse and tasked with the full duties of a firefighter.

Great. Hopefully they’ll just have her on the hose truck. This is an absolutely stupid job to be making affirmative action hires. The trick is that you don’t want firefighters who will become victims themselves when trying to rescue somebody.
Sucks to be you if she needs to haul you out of a fire. Killing ourselves with political correctness.
With the Army, it’s already here. For the Army and every other armed force, this has been a reality for 15 years.

I hope that if I had a tree cutting accident back when I worked that gig, that whomever the rescue workers were would adequately be tested for handling my full 185 lbs of weight, it’s more now that I am older, and thankfully not doing any of that crazy cutting anymore.
There was an incident in Balmr a few years ago - think OMalley was Mayor when a Fire Academy Class graduated ALL WHITES.
Heads rolled and a SPECIAL CLASS WAS CONVENED so the ‘error’ could be fixed.
Seems the Class had been assembled about 8 months earlier and the ‘appropriate’ # of ‘others’ was met BUT, as in most cases when you apply for a job that is a JOB not a VOCATION or way of life (as Firemen tend to be Generational (much as Police)), the ones that want to work tend to move on. Apparently ALL the ‘qualified’ minorities found other employment....
The MSM got right on it and were interviewing people about the unjusticeness of it all by having NO minorities...
A 350 (give or take) Black Lady summed it up by saying ‘Honey, if my fat ass is on the 10the floor I really don’t care who comes up that ladder and carrys me down. Just get me down, Honey’ (not quite a quote but...)

Other female firefighters aren’t pleased about Wax’s treatment, either.
“A lot of the girls in the field are pissed because they feel like they’re getting lumped into the same category of a female getting special treatment and not meeting the same standards as the males,” the insider added. “It devalues what the women in the field have accomplished.”

I don’t blame the other female firefighters for resenting her special treatment. Allowing a candidate in who misses the MINIMUM standards to such a degree may well cost one or more civilians and/or fellow firefighters their lives...as it could cost her own life.
Yet when I reported on that, feminist icon Gloria Steinem told me that gender differences shouldn’t even be studied. She sneered, it’s “anti-American, crazy thinking to do this kind of research.”
At the time, fire departments had dropped strength tests to avoid being accused of sex discrimination. When I told Steinem that one of my interviewees complained that instead of being carried during a fire, now she would be dragged downstairs, with her head hitting each stair, Steinem retorted, “It’s better to drag them out … there’s less smoke down there.”
It’s the same with Blacks, with affirmative action, now when somebody sees a black in a position, most will assume they only got there because of AA, fairly or unfairly.
It is very important to get enough of a female pool of employees in the department. How else are the Reds going to get lesbians into the department command structure ?
That’s ok. For decades, Chicago has had firefighters and engineers who don’t know how to get water out of hydrants.
Also many of the officers don’t know how to put out fires.
True. Not only that, but they automatically get promoted over the males because if they don’t then whoever fails to recommend them gets hit with either a discrimination charge or “sexual harassment”.
One of the reasons I got out after two+ tours. The female zeros were the worst and I just could not see putting up with even worse through a third tour.
