passage from Ernest Hemingway fits the moment. In The Sun Also Rises, one character asks, How did you go bankrupt? and another responds: Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.
The exchange captures Hillary Clintons red alert. Shes been going politically bankrupt for a long time, and now faces the prospect of sudden collapse.
If shes got a winning defense, she better be quick about it. The ghosts of scandals past are gaining on her and time is not on her side.
The compelling claims that she and Bill Clinton sold favors while she was secretary of state for tens of millions of dollars for themselves and their foundation dont need to meet the legal standard for bribery. Shes on political trial in a country where Clinton Fatigue alone could be a fatal verdict.
After 25 years of corner-cutting and dishonest behavior, accumulation is her enemy. Each day threatens to deliver the straw that breaks the camels back. It may already have happened and were just waiting for public opinion to catch up to the facts.
Meanwhile, her Houdini skills are being tested big time.
Hillarys one big advantage is obvious shes the only serious contender for the Democratic nomination, and she beats most GOP opponents in head-to-head matchups. But everything else weighs against her, including momentum.

Re your great pic of sinking Hil:
The boat should be labeled HMS (for Her Majesty’s Ship) Clinton Foundation, LOL
That's their communication strategy? Lanny Davis?
Now you know they're in trouble.
Hillary is an incompetent and unlikeable person. She’ll continue to stumble until the Rats give up on her and convince Warren to run.
Jeb is the GOP ‘we don’t want control of any of the branches’ candidate. They’ll have gone too far nominating him. Even they know he’ll get half the turnout Romney got
And we know that they know.
“Ill be glad when all the boomer hippies die off. Ive had just about enough of their crap.”
Yikes. That’s a broad brush.
I agree that the effects of the 1960’s hippie/free love generation [which is tied to the baby boomers] has been a toxic force. I also recall JFK saying that he was happy to see the ‘soaring sixties’ implying that things like patriotism, hard work, church going, etc. were becoming less important, and that this was OK with him.
Since I am 5 years ahead of the BB generation, I will also be dead with your scenario. Oh, well, with the way things are going in the world, I have actually stated that I am glad to be as old as I am, feel myself lucky to have had a childhood which was post WWII and the 1950’s.
Not all boomers are hippies. There are a lot of boomer names on The Wall. And many of them are my brother Marines.
There were just two things driving her viability -- number one, her gender; number two, Bill Clinton still has wet panties supporters (like Chris Matthews). She has to get more and more distance from him, which doesn't make him look more guilty of their Foundation corruptions, rather the reverse; and there are millions of other women, including her and her husband's various girlfriends.
“All she needs is a hair over 3% more. With her propaganda machine, this is easily attainable.”
With Blumenthal, et al. the eventual GOP nominee had better not have one overdue library book in his past. All the Clnton scandals over the decades will be as nothing compared to what they will do to that GOP candidate and his one overdue library book.
This ‘collapse’ is nothing but the mainstream press trying to induce Elizabeth Warren to run. If Warren does not run or if Hillary defeats her in the primary all the scandals will be quickly forgotten and the press will be moving on to attacking the GOP nominee 24/7.
The media is getting all of the dirt on Hillary out now so they can maintain the illusion of credibility/objectivity later in 2016 when they will completely ignore any and all new negative info about Hillary while at the same time crucify the GOP nominee on minor and/or imaginary “scandals” that don’t come close to rising to the level of the current and past Hillary transgressions.
The scandals don’t matter if it’s just a matter of the voters. But if a player on the left (Soros, ValJar) wants her gone, it will be a whole different ballgame.
“I always thought the collapse of Hillery! wouldnt come before the death of Bill.”
There’s still time. :)
Good point. It’s a reminder that they already shunted her aside one time before she had accumulated even more baggage. For some reason, someone up there in the leftist stratosphere didn’t want her.
I seem to recall that candidates get to keep the contributions, whether they win or lose. The battle axe wouldn't be walking away from anything. This is her last chance to accumulate a ton of cash.
LOL Great line there Civ...
Most Democrats at the higher levels do not want Hillary as their nominee. Nor did they in 2008 which is why what happened happened.
WHOA! Amazing - you totally get it....
She also has an incentive to become president: as president she can effectively stifle her own prosecution.
