I usually ignore the Huffing and puffington post, but this is an interesting insite. Guess things like honoring your word just aren't big in the Islamic Faith.

Well according Islam it's un-Islamic to buy insurance of any kind because it's a form of gambling. They're betting they won't suffer the catastrophe they're betting from happening. So no auto/health/dental/home owners etc.
OTOH, in Jewish culture (well OT) debts are to be forgiven after seven years. So in that case we can plead ....

The writer agreed to the contract and is post-facto trying to modify the contract on the basis of Islam’s teachings? Hell NO!
If such after-the-fact conversions were treated as legally valid, everyone would become something as soon as their loans were due - then “convert” back as soon as they could after the loans were paid.

In a sane world, Islam would be a good reason for not being able to get a student loan. American universities are being exposed to terrorism at the taxpayer’s expense, and the terrorists don’t want to pay the money back. Big surprise! It’s better to keep Muslims impoverished, ignorant, and at home, their homes, whatever hellholes they come from.
