Using language that once kept open gays out of the military, the commanding officer of the Navy Nuclear Power Training Command is using identical language to remove a Christian Chaplain from his duties.
The Commander says certain kinds of Christian teachings are harmful to unit cohesion and military readiness.
In a sharply-worded memo, Modders commander denied his request for a religious accommodation in a disciplinary process that has relieved him of his command and could kick him out of the Navy forever. Modder stands accused of homophobia and insensitivitythough, in the official documents, the term is substandard performancewhich could trump all the accolades he has received in almost 20 years of service and throw his professional life into ruin.
The commander said his decision was based on military readiness, unit cohesion, health, safety, morale, good order, discipline, and mission accomplishment. Further, he said, Your ability to express your religious beliefs during pastoral counseling has not been restricted or substantially burdened.
Modders commander also charges him with not being sensitive. Under the core capability of care you have the duty to be sensitive to the religious, spiritual, moral, cultural, and personal differences of those you serve.
His commander said Modder did not properly comfort those who came to him for counseling.
Lieutenant Commander Wesley Modder has ministered to Navy personnel under fire in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the Navy SEALs, and has received uniformly glowing reviews from his superiors. Until the recent controversy, Modders commander had him on the early promote list.
A junior officer who worked temporarily in Modders office recently brought formal charges against him. The junior officer, who did not identify himself to Chaplain Modder as either gay or married to another man, accused Modder of denigrating homosexuality and sex outside of marriage.

This is not your daddy’s military.
Nope
This is not A military.
******************************
It certainly isn't. My daddy would be aghast.
Black is white; up is down; good is bad...and bad is good. It’s a warped, twisted America.
It’s only a matter of time before all military chaplains will be asked to endorse faggotry and deny basic Christian values or be forced to resign their commission.
And only a matter of time before the office of a chaplain is abolished.
Not the one I was in either.
PING!
Some snitch on temporary duty in his office did this to him. What a scumbag. Guy’s six months short of 20.
And does this ‘Commander’ have a name?
BTW ‘Commander’, political correctness is what’s hampering military readiness, not the Gospel.
Hopefully the next President will be a principled conservative who will remove these asshats from service.
Tolerance only works one way with the left, and this is one of the main reasons why we must continue to resist the normalization of homosexuality. It doesn’t even matter if most homosexuals tolerate Christians. All that matters is that some of them are beyond intolerant, and they’re backed by our out of control legal system. These immoral and evil folks will not be satisfied until Christians are legally silenced. Dare to speak out against homosexuality? You’ll be driven from the public square, lose your jobs, and be financially ruined if possible.
Sickening!
[Hopefully the next President will be a principled conservative who will remove these asshats from service.]
Can’t happen soon enough.
They want “Morale Officers”, not Chaplains.
He may as well leave at this time anyway. All the powers that be are aligned against him, whether or not it is fair or logical. We live in a time where making believe becomes a form of legitimate belief, defended in most any courtroom. Try back in six years, if still inspired to serve, while under a new administration. For now, experiments in behavior modification and the suppression of opposing views trumps everything else. It is a waste of his time to serve while people are purposely walking around struck blind and mute by the ACLU to all the simple truths.
It sure as hell is not your daddy’s military, IS right!
It’s also no longer the military of the free and United States of America.
Really, how else can a creepy totalitarian regime institutionalize tyranny.
When the people won’t follow, (or give up their weapons)then the obvious next step is to reduce “his” military into compliant-only forces, suitably anti-Christian, enough to bring along the peoples hearts and minds to follow. (If you get my drift there.)
Enforcement is required to actually bring “fundamental change to America”.
0bama’s goal, and the goal of the lefts leadership, is to change the face of the military from a bastion of the right to a bastion of the left
At least sign the petition; support Rev. Modder's legal defense.

Phone your congresscritter's office. Twice or three times. Modder's fighting it. So should we.
“...They want Morale Officers, not Chaplains...”
I think Obama would prefer “Commissars”.
Xzins, was it you who noted that this “snitch” had a position that should not have landed him as an aide to a chaplain? The whole thing stinks of a set-up. A “married” gay officer is sent to “aid” a well-respected chaplain just shy of 20 years in the service, doesn’t tell the chaplain he’s a “gay married” man, peppers him with questions about homosexuality, and then reports HIM for “causing troubles” - and the commander buys it hook, line, and sinker. Because saying what you believe to be true when asked directly is offensive and damages unit cohesion. Funny, that hounding somebody with questions over what they believe doesn’t damage unit cohesion...
Sounds like somebody wanted to show the whole world what can happen if you stand with the Bible.
It’s time for the rest of us to show the whole world what happens when you step on all the honest, upright people in your organization...
As somebody else asked, what’s the name of this “commander”? And what’s the name of the gay officer who deliberately set out to make trouble?
Maj. Nadal Hasan approves.
