House Speaker John Boehner made a mistake inviting Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before Congress next month -- and the Israeli prime minister erred by accepting, legendary conservative pundit Pat Buchanan says.
"I disagree with what John Boehner did and I disagree with what the prime minister did," Buchanan said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show," on Newsmax TV.
Netanyahu is set to address Congress on the dangers of Iran's growing nuclear program on March 3 following an invitation by Boehner.
But Boehner did not follow normal protocol by coordinating the invite with the Obama administration, which then announced the president would not meet with Netanyahu.
"It's a mistake to come over here and Boehner to give him time to criticize the foreign policy of the president of the U.S. in the same forum as the State of the Union," Buchanan said.
But the bestselling author and former communications director for President Reagan added that Democratic members of Congress should not boycott Netanyahu's address, as some have hinted they will.
"I don't think we want to compound [Boehner's error]," Buchanan said. "Folks in the Congress of the United States, if they're there, they ought to go and hear the speech."
In addition to spanking Boehner, Buchanan is also fuming at Obama for comparing the extreme barbarity of the Islamic State (ISIS) to the Crusades, in which horrifying acts were carried out a thousand years ago in the name of Jesus Christ.

Yes.
I used to love Pat, but damn, he hates anything Jewish.
Bibi contacted the whitehouse before accepting the invite. whitehouse never replied. Complete story here;

The whole “didn’t follow protocol” thing is a simple lie. The New York Times got that talking point from the Obama people, ran it, based an ENTIRE story on how outraged the WH was BECAUSE they didn’t let the WH know in advance. Then it turned out the central fact in their story was wrong: the Israeli’s HAD notified the WH in advance. It’s just that the WH hadn’t responded — something that was entirely in their control. Having run the “violated protocol” story as a world-shaking transgression by the Jews, the Times ran the “correction” in the correction column, giving it about two lines. See http://tabletmag.com/scroll/188814/the-correction
So what’s really animating Pat? Somehow I don’t think he’s really bothered by the “fact” that the hardworking people at the WH were blindsided by the rude israelis who didn’t follow protocol.
Isn’t Pat an anti Israel guy???
Just when Pat seems to have returned to our Planet, his anti-semite side spins him back into deep space.
You want to know why our friends in Israel don’t trust Conservatives?
Pat is one of the reasons.
Fortunately people like Jimmy Carter and Pat Buchanan are few and dying off.
Don’t senators and congressmen routinely participate in international fact finding junkets, including several to Israel, supposedly to gather information relevant to their legislative duties? Why not save the taxpayers a boatload of money and have Bibi come here to speak to them all at once?
The only place I ever see this stupid windbag, aka Pat Buchanan, is on FR. His moment has come and gone because he’s such an idiot.
wow interesting links and info, thank you.
Paul is a wolf in sheeps clothing much like his father
I have not got through all of it but I knew the Pauls were nut as is many of their voters who are either 9/11 truthers, druggies or perverts but I had no idea Paul was that much out there .
\
Flamining anti Semite.....and the paulistas luv him LOL
poor Pat Bhchannan, he STILL can’t contain his anti-Semitic prejudices... no matter what...even if the Speaker of his own party extends an invitation.....if it is for a Jew to visit, Pat’s upset again.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Matthew, Luke, Paul, John, Isaiah, Micah, Amos, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, David, Solomon...stay home.
Pat don’t want ya here...
Pat gonna stir up crap if you dare accept any invitations to visit us
Gee, Pat. Does Obama also merit ant criticism? Or is Obama an innocent bystander, just trying to go about his business and make an appeasers’ deal with Iran that will accommodate its nuclear weapons program and put Israel and the US in peril? How dare Boehner and Netanyahu do anything to interfere!
Yep.
I love Pat. He is right some 90-95 percent of the time in my book.
But there are always those who argue he’s anti-Semitic. I have no opinion on that claim one way or the other.
I’m glad Bibi is coming. It will harm and embarrass the Barack-holes in DC.
Didn’t follow “protocol”? The Commander in Chief does not follow the LAW. Look, when the power’s out, and the looters are out, niceties like protocol lose some of their authority.
Reid dropped a centuries old “protocol” rule to get nominees through.
As protocols are not a moral code, there is not only nothing wrong with dispensing with them, it may be imperative. Undermining Obama’s authority is an iperative. You cam bet that when he leaves the White House, he will continue to try to subvert the U.S. in any way that does not tax anything other than his mouth and throat muscles.
Shoot the messenger if you must, but Buchanan is right that it is wrong to bring a foreign leader to the capital for the express purpose of trashing US policy, even if it is Obama’s. This is simply wrong. It borders, in my opinion, on sedition and treason—where is Boehner’s loyalties? Israel or the US?
Just pretend it’s Franco, or Ian Smith, Pat.
He is stuck in an America First Committee time warp much as Nelson Mandella, who was otherwise a fairly nice fellow, was stuck in a early 1960s anti-colonial time warp.
Obama has created an issue where there was no issue. His public tantrum is his own doing.
The deterioration of the relationship between the US and Israel owes to the fact that we elected Muslim Brotherhood into the White House.
With a normal president, even a normal Democrat president there would be no issue because no normal American would object to a visit by an Israeli prime minister. Only this president throws a public fit... and it is public because he can’t help himself, he can’t control himself. He has made it plain again and again that he detests Netanyahu, has gone out of his way to humiliate him, and now insists that his allies in congress go along with yet another attempt at public humiliation.
All, while he dispatches a team to get Netanyahu voted out of office.
Buchanan is past disappointing me, I figured him out long ago. Today he just reconfirms what I already know. In a contest between the barbarian and the civilized man, if the civilized man is Jewish he will find some way to stand with the barbarian. Despite the fact that Israel’s enemies are slaughtering Christians right now, he can’t bring himself to back Israel.
rules, laws, protocols and normal procedures haven’t mattered for 6 years.
