Happy New Year to all Freepers and Lurkers. Have spent many happy hours here in the past year. Have read the posts of interesting and good people. Have battled with the best and got help from the best.

Much love to you all.

Post your New Year wishes and if you like, plans for 2015.

I’m thinking I should be nicer in 2015.

I posted this originally on a thread that I did not realize was religion:

I think my new year eve resolution is to bring more people into my life. The kids have gone and in order to maintain a relationship with their father who has decided after 14 years to pay attention to them, they have to minimize their relationship with me. I have decided to accept that, but I am finding a hole in my life.

I think I want to reach out and find people to engage with and enjoy. Raising, homeschooling, and supporting the children meant working 60 to 70 hours a week, and over time I lost my supports and friends. And now my family.

Time to begin anew. There is a lovely couple young couple that I know who have asked me over for dinner. And there is a young man who is a neighbor and his widowed mother. Nice people who might need more connection. There is a young lady neighbor nearby who I have gotten to know and enjoy, and I helped her find a job recently.

I have decided to eschew leftists and their ilk. Ultimately the gulf is too wide. I no longer want to bridge it. Recently I was working and scheduling had all eight of us conservatives working together. We realized it half way through the workday, and reveled in being us...together.

Looking at the possibilities. Over the next year I will join bookclubs, and perhaps host some get-togethers. By autumn my commitments will be few and I would be able to join a church and babysit for people who would enjoy having an extra pair of hands.

Does this make sense or do I sound crazier than usual?

Happy New Year, all! Alas, the coming of age means that we shed the illusions of youth, including aspirations of greatness that we will never achieve. For example, my dreams of becoming an NFL defensive lineman and winning the Miss America contest are right out!

I finally have decided that in 2015 the name Barak, is not very American. I don’t think the name or origen in the name made anything GREAT in America. It is foreign, and whoever was Barak Senior, probably did NOT leave a good legacy, or have any moments of great character built in his honor. That is what I am going to believe in 2015...

My plan for 2015 is to do everything that I planned to do in 2014, but didn’t get done. That leaves everything but “Put on my shoes”. I did get that done.

Happy New Year from the Philippines. It is already almost 10am here and midnight is long past.

Locally, in our subdivision, it was chaos at midnight. Dozens of motorcycles running the streets, with horns blaring, cars and trucks towing cans on strings (like "just married" folk!) and of course, plenty of revelers with loud stress and kazoo horns blowing and scaring our dog.

But, it is a New Year, and with it comes hopes and prayers for all, that you have a blessed year and a good life.

(heads and tail of the roasted pig my sis-in-law had at her house last night. They do barbecue a little differently!)

The bowls of fruit contain 13 fruits, all different, to have a prosperous year. It is another tradition with these folks! It's more fun in the Philippines!!!

Heads or tails?
