Two uniformed NYPD officers were shot dead Saturday afternoon as they sat in their marked police car on a Brooklyn street corner — in what investigators believe was a crazed gunman’s execution-style mission to avenge Eric Garner and Michael Brown.
“It’s an execution,” one law enforcement source said of the 3 p.m. shooting of the two officers, whose names were being withheld pending family notification of their deaths.
The tragic heroes were working overtime as part of an anti-terrorism drill when they were shot point-blank in their heads by the lone gunman, who approached them on foot from the sidewalk at the corner of Myrtle and Tompkins avenues in Bed-Stuy.
“I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” a person believed to be the gunman wrote on Instagram in a message posted just three hours before the officers were shot through their front passenger window.
“They Take 1 Of Ours … Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” the post continued, signing off with, “This May Be My Final Post.”

I was stationed in NYC in 1967 with Armed Forces Police when those to NYPD Cops were killed, it is going to get very unpleasant on the streets.
The White House already has at least one plan and probably a backup for any such incident. If not, they can just photocopy Bill Ayres' old playbook.

Plenty of Ivy League types of all persuasion to be concerned about until the first shot is fired. Then they will all be huddled in their Mom's Mansion basement. There fist raised slogans will be of little value at that point.
They find the guy yet? Last report I read is he went into a subway. If found I doubt very seriously if he’ll be needing a lawyer.
Certainly there's a gun control angle for them to try and exploit here...
As another FReeper said. I don’t love unions or strikes but it wouldn’t break my heart to see every cop in NY walk off the job for a few days.

I could certainly see how the NYPD cops would simply refuse to patrol or respond to the worst areas. Then it’s DiBlasio’s move. And when the honest citizens who live in those areas discover what it’s like with no protection from the police, I would think that City Hall might become a little uncomfortable for the mayor.
