As another FReeper said. I dont love unions or strikes but it wouldnt break my heart to see every cop in NY walk off the job for a few days.Everything has it's place, even unions.
Corporation and Unions, are linked and twined in a way, they both serve a purpose and can be useful for their members.
But if they get to large or corrupt they become a detriment to themselves.

I don’t think they can legally strike.....we sure couldn’t. However, they may come down with the blue flu.
One thing is absolutely certain, the street cops are going to come up with a plan and the politicians are not going to like it.
