A report into the botched execution of Clayton Lockett has revealed new grisly details of the moments leading up to his agonizing death.
According to the document, a doctor tried to insert an intravenous line into his groin in a frantic attempt to save him, but hit and burst an artery instead.
It caused blood to splatter over the doctor's jacket before the execution was officially stopped. Lockett's heart stopped beating moments later.
In the report, Oklahoma state prison warden Anita Trammell is quoted as saying that the procedure was a 'bloody mess'.

Maybe a fitting end to fit his awful crime? I say ok to make a bloody mess but do it outside with a few high powered rifles aimed at the heart. The pain would be very brief and death would be quick if not instant. Seems more humane than the botched injection.
Black guy kills white girl and nothing .... black guy dies in bloody mess, here comes the media storm.
Oh he felt pain? Poor bastard.
Maybe the answer is to do executions in a locker room shower.
Get them nice and comfortable and then simply drain the SOBs of their blood. Hose it down the drain at the end.
Why attempt to save a man who was SUPPOSED to die?
Doesn’t sound like botched to me, sounds more like just reward.
Article says he shot his victim and buried her alive, so she didn’t have a pleasant death either.
It’s time to stop trying for a “pleasant death.” It’s not pleasant at all for the criminal or the executioners. Stop pretending that he just goes to sleep and it’s all over quickly, as at the veterinarian’s.
If the judgement has been made to execute, there are a few quick and certain ways. Firing squad is one of them.
Did the article mention anything about the agony that his victims and their family went through?
Boo hoo.
In an era of do not resuscitate orders, we are trying to save execution subjects?
Isn't there some other shot (short of a bullet) you could give him to put him out of his misery?
A firing squad would be bloody too, but it would be quick and sure.
Can’t remember the last time a botched abortion made worldwide headlines. Why is that? They still occur regularly.
I’ve taken convicts into hospitals as part of my job, and if they were IV drug users the poor nurses have their work cut out for them when it comes to IV runs and blood draws. One guy was so bad between drug use and suicide attempts they mainlined his carotid artery. In a moving ambulance. He’d cut the artery in his arm and was bleeding out. We managed to save him (dammit).

late term abortions can be a bloody mess too. The media doesn’t like to discuss the details of those.
There is a global effort to shame America out of implementing the death penalty.
