Jeb Bush has quietly consulted former Republican presidential nominee John McCain about how to run for president without pandering to conservatives in a GOP primary, according to a new report.
The New York Times, in a story published Friday, examines the former Florida governors thinking on a possible campaign. The story notes that Bush seems to be leaning towards running, but has no desire to change some of his political positions to win over the partys base.
When former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida quietly visited Senator John McCain in his Capitol Hill office this fall, discussion turned to a subject of increasing interest to Mr. Bush: how to run for president without pandering to the partys conservative base.
I just said to him, Jeb Bush has quietly consulted former Republican presidential nominee John McCain about how to run for president without pandering to conservatives in a GOP primary, according to a new report.

I just said to him, I think if you look back, despite the far rights complaints, it is the centrist that wins the nomination, Mr. McCain, an Arizona Republican, said he told Mr. Bush.
The two issues most commonly mentioned as potential problems for Bush with the base: immigration and Common Core. Bush has argued for a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants and has also supported the Common Core educational standards stances the GOP base vehemently opposes.

And who is it that wins the election?
Consulting with a loser...
I consider this good news. It will be clear to all primary voters who they are really voting for - no more pulling the lever and hoping based on cheap promises.
Well, if Juan gave Jebbie honest advice, he told him to lie through his teeth about securing the border first. Lie about securing the border first as often as necessary, knowing he has no intention of actually securing the border; first second, third, or ever for that matter. Further, even suggest that he will “build the damned fence.”
Juan used those tactics in 2008 to revive his dead presidential primary campaign, and again in 2010 to fight off a conservative challenge during his senatorial reelection campaign.
If honest, those are a couple of key things Juan would have told Jebbie. Don’t pander to the conservative base, just lie to them as often as needed.
John McCain and Mitt Romney. HOW BOUT THEM CENTRISTS! Kickin’ butt! They can’t even beat a Marxist who is so far to the left of Castro, Stalin and Lenin that they couldn’t see him with a pair of good binoculars.
That was an uncommonly redundant article. The first five paragraphs could have been aptly expressed with a sentence or two
Has he also asked Bob Dole Says about how to turn off the base?
Why fool with McC, Jebbie, just ask any Bush.
Is McC the joke, or is it the Republican primary voters of AZ?
Should be, but it won't. What have primary voters done that was smart in a long time?
Let’s not get too specific...
That movie is awesome.
Bush, McCain, Romney, Bush?
A winning superfecta for socialists. Easily bashed, handily beaten.
No thanks, Jeb.
Why doesn’t that idiot just run as a democrat? He has a massive ego and doesn’t seem too bright.
Why should we vote for another RINO? Boehner is a RINO, and he collaborated with Obama and nullified the election by funded amnesty. Vote for another RINO, and nothing will be different.
McCain lost an election by a big margin, he should be the last person a potential candidate consults if they want to win.
Yep!

Yea, kind of like Willkie consulting Landon and Hoover on how to unseat FDR!
I made no reference to Ryan.......who only masqueraded as a conservative, BTW. But no; my only direct reference to a backstabbed running mate was to Sarah Palin. You extrapolated to Mitt and HIS running mate. I did not carry it out that far. And besides; it was a brief, feeble attempt at sarcastic humor, not an exhaustive history of the 2012 campaign.
