Salon.com has hit a new low. Sundays article, titled, You dont protect my freedom: Our childish insistence on calling soldiers heroes deadens real democracy argues that patriotic celebration and respect of our military is a childish trait and forced troop worship and compulsory patriotism must end.

Sadly, I will not be allowed to choose an internet provider and pay for internet service that saves bandwidth and increases the speed and enjoyment of my internet experience... by blocking ALL internet traffic sourced at Salon.com.
From my experience, I am not a hero, but I served with many.
Theodore Roosevelt comes to mind, It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.
Liberal elites thought Larry Flynt the pron peddler was a 'hero'. Then there's Harvey Milk - the pedophile... they even got his picture on a stamp. Those guys really ARE liberal heroes... ya can't make this stuff up.
And Salon has NO journalistic validity.
I was astounded to see how popular salon.com is.

Very few living military veterans ever consider anything they have ever done as particularly “heroic”. Especially those who have a dusty junk drawer filled with medals and certificates.
Some gave all, all gave some.
Like your father, I would never claim to be a hero, because the sacrifices I made during my two terms of enlistment were because I had a specific list of people I personally represented, so they didn't “have to”, and also my own goals.
The only person who personally acknowledged me as a veteran today was my own daughter, born well over a decade after I left the DOD.
That was all I needed to chase away the shadows of bitterness that always comes on Veterans Day for me, as I remember all those that gave all.
Didn’t some liberals have a favorable view of Jim Jones at an early point? Just saying, because he did believe in redistribution of wealth in his ideal utopia.
Liberal elites...
