The CDC has said that they believe most of the people infected with Chagas got the parasite in Mexico or South America before coming to the U.S.

Thanks, Obama!

How is Chagas’ Disease Spread?

1. Through the bite of a blood sucking insect, called the Reduviid, Triatomine bugs, or “kissing bugs”.

2. Through infected organ transplants or blood transfusions.

3. People may also be infected if they touch their eyes, mouth, or any open wounds such as cuts, after touching or coming into contacted with “kissing bug” feces.

4. The kissing bug may also place their feces right into a person’s eyes, causing infection

5. Uncooked food that contains infective kissing bug feces can also be a method of transmission

6. Mothers can transmit the disease through pregnancy or birth. The disease has also been documented in cases of mothers who breastfeed.

And judging by what Google News turns up, the American media has agreed not to report on it for as long as possible.

That being over 100 years. There’s really nothing to report. It’s an annoying little illness that effects very few people and has been here pretty much forever.

“It is spread by cooties which only girls have.”

Yes, but it's only transferable by unprotected hand to butt contact according to Bart Simpson.

I’ve been looking around and haven’t found the panic yet. Where are they hiding it?

They’re calling it the “new AIDS”, even though we’ve known about it longer than AIDS, it can’t be transmitted person to person, isn’t nearly as fatal as AIDS, and actually can be treated.

From the link at post #6

"People with Chagas disease seen in the U.S. usually have acquired it while living in a country where the disease is endemic (Mexico, Central and South America)."

"The disease has been diagnosed in the US, mainly in immigrants from South and Central America."

Once again, we have to consult a British newspaper to find out what is happening in the United States.
