New Jersey Releases Nurse Quarantined for Suspected Ebola [Christie Reverses Course]
NBC News ^ | 10/27/2014

The nurse forcibly quarantined in New Jersey after she came home from treating Ebola patients in West Africa will be released Monday, state officials said. Kaci Hickox has been held against her will in a tent outside a New Jersey medical center since she was taken off a flight, flushed and distraught, Friday. Hickox has hired a lawyer and spoken out publicly against her quarantine.

“Since testing negative for Ebola on early Saturday morning, the patient being monitored in isolation at University Hospital in Newark has thankfully been symptom free for the last 24 hours,” New Jersey health department officials said in a statement. “As a result, and after being evaluated in coordination with the CDC and the treating clinicians at University Hospital, the patient is being discharged.”

The case quickly escalated over the weekend, with Hickox protesting from her confinement and scientists including Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, saying there was no medical basis to hold her. The White House even weighed in, pressing New York and New Jersey to reverse their decisions to quarantine all returning medical workers who have treated Ebola patients.

Hickox will be allowed to take private transport home to Maine. “Since the patient had direct exposure to individuals suffering from the Ebola Virus in one of the three West African nations, she is subject to a mandatory New Jersey quarantine order," the statement read.

“Health officials in Maine have been notified of her arrangements and will make a determination under their own laws on her treatment when she arrives.”

Is that bloated turd still NJ governor?! I live in NJ, and I’d pretty much forgotten about him. Literally the last time I heard anything about him was the whole GW Bridge scandal...

And speaking of AIDS, and narcissism, and bodily fluids, is anybody making book yet on the timing and extent of upcoming stories about the spread of Ebola in bathhouses?

My wife, an ER nurse, BTW, is of the opinion that anyone who does the Good Samaritan thing in Africa and objects to appropriate quarantine if even merely suggested upon return, should either not be treated or should be sent back to live out their lives among the people they really care about.

Well, that didn’t take long.....backslider.

And where has it been written that someone tested for Obola and shown negative can’t independently develop the disease later. In other words what is the resolution detectability of test and its accuracy?

I don’t think she’s actually a patient caregiver in real life except for her do-gooder Africa trips. She’s a nurse by training (by some of the portrait photogs of her she’s playing doctor - with a stethoscope around her neck)

Supposedly she works for the CDC from what I’ve read.

My opinion of her is “I’m a health professional and it’s all about me.”

I would love to see Obola do a photo op with this nurse. He can use it to show us that he really believes his own bullish%t.

The Obola regime. Playing politics with Ebola. Not good news for America.

"Boy did not see this one coming.... Now the people hollering yesterday for Texas to stand up can shut up. Their hero Crispy Creme just imploded (again)."

I can't stand Christie but I don't think he reversed course here. He could potentially enforce a quarantine in HIS state but if the patient arranges secure transport I don't believe he could force her to stay in NJ. Now it's up the state of Maine to deal with her.

That being said, what the heck is wrong with these doctors and nurses who risk there lives to save people in Africa but don't seem so concerned about spreading the disease here in the US? Do they have a political agenda? Arrogance? Do they believe they are above it all? I don't get it. Why would they NOT set an example for everyone including the CDC and the president and voluntarily go into 21 day quarantine.

I believe that Maine is one of the outer 57 states...probably will be given to Canada once Hillary becomes Pre_sent...

Christie did not reverse course. The nurse has been allowed to leave the state and return home.

If the nurse had been a NJ resident, she would have continued to have been quarantined.

She is Maine’s problem now.

ABC radio news reported that it was some unidentified hack judge which ordered her release (from “captivity”) sarc remark mine not ABC’s. The reason for that decision which that judge will hide under is because of the position of an federal government agency. That decision btw overrides states rights and is another prescedent that will come up again and again.

Frankly I hope the bitch does develop Ebola. As some FR’s have pointed out here as a member of the medical profession her duty is to err on the side of caution. If she does we’ll never hear about it.

People insisting on electing these idiots are as guilty as the idiots themselves. It is them that put scum like this in power.
