Reports coming in from Canada of shooting at the Library of Parliament. One shooter reported captured. Unconfirmed reports of one dead. Police looking for more shooters, but not sure if more.

Careful what you say. If you're saying it in Canada, you can be arrested for making those sorts of statements linking Muslims with terrorists. They tried to get Mark Steyn thrown in prison for making anti-Muslim statements.

From Paul McLeod, Ottawa bureau chief for the Halifax Chronicle Herald, via Twitter an email alert to Prime Minister Harper's staff tells them to shelter in place from "active shooters in the Parliament Hill vicinity."

Was in Ottawa a few years ago.

I was amazed at the lack of visible security around Parliament Hill. We could even walk right up to the building, and the parking lot behind that overlooks the river.

Well, that’ll change now. NOTHING wakes a politician up like their OWN life at risk.

That is basically the way things go in low crime areas until something like this happens. Recall when the Swedish PM got shot and killed on the street decades ago with no security. Just him and his wife strolling home from the movies.

@OmarCBC notes, citing police, that a suspected shooter from the incident near the Ottawa War Memorial is on the roof of Canadian Parliament. This has not been verified. We are waiting for more information as this situation unfolds.
