A woman who was brutally beaten by three men on a Crown Heights sidewalk says the attack, which left her with a broken nose and facial lacerations, will not stop her from pursuing her modeling career. Gwendolyn Reyes, 21, was jumped by three muggers as she walked on Franklin Avenue between Prospect Place and St. Mark's Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. on October 2nd. Yesterday the NYPD released security camera video of the assault and robbery:
Reyes, an aspiring model, says she found it "difficult to watch" the video, for obvious reasons. "They just rushed me, so the first thing I thought [was] 'Is this really happening?'" she tells CBS 2. "I just remember the whole attack, and them leaving me, I remember them just dragging me, and then I started yelling for someone to help me. And then that’s when I realized blood was coming from my face, but I didn’t know where from my face."
Reyes was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition with a broken nose and lacerations to her face. (Judging by her appearance on CBS 2 last night, she seems to have recovered remarkably.)
Reyes's assailants ran away with her cell phone and purse. No arrests have been made, but police released these images of the suspects.

They were tossing her around like a limp rag doll, not a human being. Her face looks pretty messed up to me. They obviously had no problem with beating a young girl. Really, people still wonder why we cross to the other side of the street?

I typically read articles on street crime and "bet" if author will mention race of perps.
Few deserve a beat down, but I hope this little dumb@ss figured out she should NOT be out at 2:30am, ALONE, on the streets of Gotham. Yeesh!
Way back in the early 1970s when I was at Portland State University and lived on campus, one of the rules I lived by was not to be outside after 7pm.

Nonsense. Identifying the skin color of the perp serves an important public interest to those not yet mugged and who at least may be in those areas. It also points out over time that a certain segment of society my be more likely to commit the crimes than another group.
