White House defends 'latte salute'

Buzz surrounding a video showing President Obama stepping off Marine One on Tuesday and saluting two U.S. Marines while holding a travel cup has not been a point of conversation between the president and his top spokesman.

The video uploaded to the White House Instagram on Tuesday showed Obama saluting the Marines while holding a white cup in his right hand as he apparently fiddled with his suit coat button with his left.

Obama’s timing was truly bizarre. He does this crap on the day we are bombing Syria.

"The answer is quite simple. The President of the United States is a civilian. He is not a member of the US Military and is therefore not entitled to salute. The military salute is a privilege earned by honorable service in the military. It is also a privilege that can be taken away. Military prisoners are stripped of the privilege of saluting. While the President is Constitutionally the CINC, he is not a member of the military.

It was “Bush’s fault” that Barry did this because Barry saw a picture of Bush saluting while he was holding his dog. “Bush’s fault”.

Hey, the Current Occupant was just being environmentally conscious, he didn’t want to just drop the Styrofoam cup on the grass or an unapproved container, you know. Of course he was carrying it to a proper disposal receptacle.

Got to set a good example for the “Global Climate Change” people, doncha know. If that means dissing the Marine Honor Guard, well, we all got to make sacrifices.

Really lame, because if nothing else, the dog was a living being who needed to be handled a certain way rather than an object to be shuffled off. Bush clearly tried to make the best of it and I’d be surprised if the Marines weren’t holding back a grin.

The Obama act reeks of disdain and indifference. These are the types of young men he's perfectly willing to send into harm's way while he hides out in his bunker.

As to the Bush photo, big deal. His devotion to our troops was well known and, at the very least, the dog was in his left arm while he saluted with his right. Perhaps he should have let someone else carry the mutt, but Obama's haughtiness rises to a different level.
