A real-life horror story is playing out in Africa as Ebola spreads, and President Obamas decision to send 3,000 troops to Liberia to combat the virus could very well put Americans at risk of contracting the deadly illness at home, some health experts say.
According to the World Health Organization, at least 4,985 people have contracted Ebola and at least 2,461 have died. Several doctors have fallen ill with Ebola, and two of them have died. New reports indicate a Doctors Without Borders staff member has contracted the virus in Liberia and will be evacuated to France for treatment.
You can see that these doctors, who are highly trained people, got themselves infected, said Dr. Lee Hieb, former president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. So sending troops into an area, if theyre dealing one-on-one with a patient, theyre not going to be able to protect themselves very well. Its not easy to [prevent transmission], because you get tired and you get careless and you make some simple mistakes. All it takes is one virus particle.
Dr. Hieb said quarantine measures should be taken to control the outbreak and prevent Ebola from coming to America.
You dont get Ebola from Europe, she told WND. You get Ebola from Africa. And its a really simple formula: Dont let people fly to America if theyve been to areas where theres an outbreak. When theres an outbreak, stop air [traffic] flow.
Hieb added, If theyre going to use the troops to do population control, which is one of the ways you contain it, basically you just dont let anybody out. Youd make a ring around where it is, and youd quarantine the area.

I’m not sure when my dad enlisted, but he served in the Pacific. He was in stores on Hawaii for a period of time, but I know he served other places too.
Thanks Okie01. I agree with you.
Joke aside most Nuke school grads are smart. My former neighbor and childhood friend was an instructor out in Idaho at the training facility in the early 1980's. It is the most academically demanding school in the armed forces. I knew very smart guys who didn't make it through and I knew a couple of them who could have cut it academically but had about as much common sense and good judgement as a village idiot. They got culled out of the program and ended up on conventional with a six year active obligation to boot.
My guess is once actually onboard Carter would have washed out in sea trials. There's a huge difference in knowing books and theory and being able to run a propulsion system nuke or conventional in the capacity of an engineering officer other than a junior officer in charge of auxiliaries. The Main Propulsion Assistant on my ship was a walking encyclopedia but he also knew the ship like the back of his hand and even knew valve locations for my gear which was the A/C chill water piping system. He was the closest human being I've seen to the Star Trek character Spock.
In an emergency he could rattle off orders one right after the other and they were accurate and correct. He also had the personality of a brick and could be quite abrupt in interacting with crew sometimes. Still he was the man you wanted sitting in DC Central when it hit the fan.
Thanks for the informative and colorful comments.
As bad as Carter was, he didn’t show his real stripes until after he left office. The guy didn’t really have a problem with vicious dictators as long as they were Marxists.
If they were allies of the U. S., very very bad. “Oh gotta fix that situation right now.”
That officer you mentioned seems like a good guy to have araound alright. Lucky you guys...
Obamss’ intention was NEVER to aid with the ebola problem in Africa. It is to intentionally help decimate our troops.
Just F.Y.I. the Doc quoted in this article, Dr. Lee Hieb is running for Gov. as a Libertarian in Iowa.
She is doing so to attempt to bring attention to a number of issues (such as this one). She has been on many radio shows here; the woman is brilliant.
She is also a very funny and entertaining person. Here is her website:
Okay great. Thanks for the mention.
Obama wants nothing more than for these troops to DIE! He is EVIL! DOCTORS yes......Military HELL NO!!!!
How would you like to be the troops selected for this mission?...I would be discharged Dishonorably, I’m afraid.
Yes they are, they are sending guys in to build hospitals.
The Visquene and Bleach hospital program hasn’t been too successful so far.
BioSafety Level 4 facilities run about $15k/SF and need to be designed and constructed by professionals, not a military NCO who sometimes can keep a generator running.
Military leaders aren’t always 100% successful at control when setting up a bivuoac and establishing the latrine on the right, while one or two go to the left, and they want to send them in to an environment requiring Biosafety Level 4 provisions????
Obama should shake each and every one of their hands when they return.
This idiotic move by King Putt shows how out of touch with reality he is.
To expose our fighting force to this is unconscionable.
Gonna be really hard to blame Bush if a soldier comes down with Ebola.
This seems to be the opinion of most doctors.
These soldiers should not be sent there. This needs to be stopped.
It is all for Obama’s legacy. I predict that this is not going to go well. I am scared for these soldier and their families.
There is even a danger that they could be attacked by Islamists.
In addition to possible exposure to Ebola, these soldiers will also become possible targets for Boko Haram or other terrorist groups looking to make a name for themselves by killing American military personnel.
They are attempting to draw a distinction between interacting with “patients” and interacting with “health workers”
Since a high percentage of “health workers” become “patients” , are they planning to quarantine them for three weeks BEFORE having them interact with our personnel???
Sickening.
Bingo! It is not a stupid strategy; it is an evil one.
+1
Amen and amen!
