apartments for low-income seniors Why is it poor people get tax funded rent subsidies when they can afford to buy smokes?

A smoker for seven decades or so, she thinks she should be allowed to do what she wants in her own home. It's not her home. It belongs to someone else and she entered into a legal agreement to lease space from them. If she can't abide by the agreement then she should find somewhere else.

Intellectual consistency is not one of Free Republic’s strong suits. If she were Black and using food stamps to purchase lobster, people would understand your point.

...her own home. But more than a year ago, the management of the apartments for low-income seniors...
Ahh, yes! Another taxpayer funded "your own home."
I lived across the street from one of these places for years... Filled with able-bodied, able-minded lazy jerks. They'll do anything to STAY in "their own home," including not working and remaining drug-dependent.
Think I'm a heartless bastard? Fine. Never speak to me again, and don't take my money to pay for YOUR life.

It’s amazing what passes for news these days.
1. Apartment complex posts new rules, gives 1-year to comply.
2. Woman who lived there for 10-years doesn’t want to comply so she moves.
Okay...and????

Using here pot money for evil tobacco makes her unique?
Please, half the dealers in the country live in public housing or get subsidies to help with their rent. No one would dare throw them or their customers out because an inspector verified that the hair of the occupants constantly reeks of pot.
The Fedz run a campaign to demonize a group and even people who should know better hop on the bandwagon. It's all a matter of which people it's popular to vilify at the moment and this lady is among those the government says it's Ok to tar and feather.

I'd move, too. I made sure I'd own my own home outright when I was older. I do own it, so the govn. can leave me the hell alone. I also don't have to depend on the water company or the electric company or any outside source to keep me alive.
What I can't seem to stop are sales robo calls on my “unlisted” house phone so I turned it down so I can't hear it. They call and leave no message and there is one who is looking for someone I never heard of so they just want you to answer. Very few people have my cell number. Hopefully, sales people won't figure out how to mess with our cell phones. Phones are an intrusion on our privacy.
Mark Twain thought the same about mail. He never opened his mail. He said if it was important, someone would come see him about it and if it was unimportant, it wasn't worth opening anyway. I wonder what his attitude would be today with all the outside methods today wanting to contact us for nothing important.

Why is it poor people get tax funded rent subsidies when they can afford to buy smokes? I think it has something to do with helping them vote Democrat.
