A group of armed militia and protesters, some sporting nametags reading "domestic terrorist," remain camped out on a cattle ranch in Nevada, where they have been purportedly defending the property since a tense showdown ended with the federal government last week.
A 20-year struggle between rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management over decades of alleged illegal cattle grazing on public land ended last Sunday, with the government backing down from a controversial week-long cattle round-up.
The BLM defused the standoff, citing safety concerns for its employees and the protesters, some of whom were on horseback and others who were set up in sniper positions on the Interstate 15 overpass pointing military-style rifles at federal agents. Among the citizen army were dozens of women and children under the overpass who could have been caught in the line of any possible gunfire.
But many people who say they support Bundy said they felt the battle was far from over, as evidenced by some responses ABC News received on social media, after the BLM first announced on April 12 that it was withdrawing from the area and releasing the 380 cattle already collected as part of the round-up on an area of land half the size of Delaware state.

"There are people out here who will sacrifice their lives and their fortunes and their sacred honor to defend them," said Jerry DeLemus from New Hampshire. "If someone points a gun at me, I'll definitely point my gun back."
The dispute has reignited debate over BLM practices, especially where it controls vast areas of land in the West. The issue of states' rights has long been disputed in Nevada, where more than 85 percent of land is controlled by federal mark, military and land agencies.

Those are the talking points over at that other site. Bless their hearts, they are not smart enough to understand what is going on. From pictures I have seen, the gov’t should be paying him.
Ditto on the “purportedly” - one of the favorite weasel words of the .gov apologists formerly known as the Fourth Estate.
Importantly, there is the 17 day rule. In situations like this, after a couple of weeks, fatigue sets in, so people start leaving and relax. Three days after that, the badness goes down.
A Question?
Why does the USA own this land? Saw a map and it looked like “We the People” own a lot of land out there. Why do WE own it and what are WE doing with it?
Conserving it.
For future generations.
Who also won’t be allowed anywhere near it.
Get it?
Or are you just some sort of domestic terrorist racist?
Congress can dispose of the land, so I'm encouraging my congress-critters to do just that.

Interesting comment from the koolaid drinkers. They don't stop to think that Bundy also belongs to 'we the people'....
Just rename the ranch to “Benghazi” and the feds will never show up.
“When the People fear Government there is Tyranny; When Government fears the People there is Liberty’’.— Thomas Jefferson. I think we need to do a better job of making government afraid of us. Mr. Bundy is a good start.
I’m confused about the ownership also.
Supposedly Reid was going to sell other land to the Chinese for a solar farm and wanted the BLM to kick Bundy off the land he was using (owns?) so they could use it as a turtle refuge in place of the land the Chinese wanted. Am I anywhere close?
So, how could Reid sell government land plus get a substantial commission? And I’m assuming it’s government land since they wanted to use the Bundy land to make up for the loss of the Chinese land. Does this mean anyone can buy “government land”?
As I said, I’m confused.
LOL, you’re a smart man, Jim!
Mr. Bundy should present the govt with a bill for all the time and effort he has put in keeping up the water system and the land since the govt stopped using the grazing fees to do it. Just call it even.
It’s a shame that the Homestead Acts were allowed to lapse. Although I suppose that these folks could just decide to stay and claim their 160 acres.
Well, if the land is owned to protect it for generations why is Harry Reid selling it to red china.
Wait, I got to get ready for my cross burning. These white sheets don’t clean themselves ya know.
If we had competent journalists instead of the lowest common denominator types that are on the payroll of news organizations, the wording would be as follows as opposed to the original sentence.
The BLM defused the standoff, which it had caused.”
original...The BLM defused the standoff, citing safety concerns
Jim - here’s an interview you’ll enjoy...
The left is fill of grazers that don’t pay. So is Mexico.
It’s worse than that. BLM started using those “fees” as a weapon.
“Bundy told Breitbart News the only communication he has received from the BLM recently has been through the mail.
Ive received some certified letters that I havent opened, and thats the only conversation on that, so Im going to save those letters for maybe awhile. Thats how serious I think they are, he said. Im tired of their bull. They put their guns at me and my family and these American people. How can I honor one of their letters? I might never open them, he added.”
