Rubio, McCain: Gates should have waited to write his book
washington post ^ | january 12, 2014 | Niraj Chokshi

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates should have waited to publish the memoir in which he harshly criticized President Obama's leadership in the war in Afghanistan, two top Republican senators said  Sunday.

"I would have waited, but as far as waiting until it's over in Afghanistan, I wouldn't have done that," Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said on CNN's "State of the Union," though he was quick to praise the former defense secretary.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), a potential 2016 presidential contender, made similar comments on CBS's "Face the Nation."

"My preference would be that people would refrain from writing these sorts of things until the president is out of office because I think it undermines the ability to conduct foreign policy," Rubio said.

Absolutely yes, because we know the democrats would never criticize a sitting president.

And yes, two wrongs DO make a right here. Unless continuing to lose elections is the goal.

You mean mac daddies great foreign policy?

How could it be any worse than it is now?

Yea lets wait until mac daddy has destroyed America, it that a good time?

And these are two of America’s elected leaders that sit by and watch this lawless squatter ignore laws that he do not benefit him or his perverse goals,.

Wow, you just can’t make these types of comment up.

Rubio is history. He has become Juan McCain’s new little Boy Toy along with Linda Graham.

Idiots like this is why the GOP is down to 22% of the population in the last Gallup poll on the subject.

People should wait until AFTER an incumbent leaves office before cricizing them. Like until AFTER the next Presidential Election when the information will be politically USELESS. As useless as that trio of mental midgets Rubio, McCain and Graham.

..yeah, this way Hildabeast can skate through without any worries.....****ing morons

From what I have heard about the book on the MSM, it is quite laudatory about Hillary. Gates says that Hussein lacked "passion", but that "Hillary would make a fine president".

Hussein is a lame duck; so it doesn't matter that Gates spoke critically of him. I wonder if the book wasn't timed to help get the Hillary juggernaut rolling.

I have serious doubts about what sort of rotten compost is living between McCain's ears these days.

There's somethin'...ah say there's somethin' about that boy that just ain't right.

"My preference would be that people would refrain from writing these sorts of things until the president is out of office because I think it undermines the ability to conduct foreign policy,"

That could only be true if Obozo had any such ability to begin with.

Rubio has, once again, momentarily left his guard down and his underlying despicableness has shown through. NEVER, EVER trust this weasel.

But the quote that is getting all the ink is when Hillary said she was against the war in Afghanistan for political reasons. Hmm. Is that supposed to make us think the book is fair and then we go out and buy it and find that it is a paean to Ms. Cankles?

I love the way everybody here bites on the headlines and doesn’t read the rest of the story, where of course both McCain and Rubio say that, while they might have preferred waiting, they’re glad for the information and it sheds more light on their long-standing concerns about Bozo’s “foreign policy.” McCain even says that he wouldn’t have been willing to wait until “Afghanistan was done.”

And remember, they’re reacting to insider tell-all books, most of them hear-say and innuendo, published about Bush during his term, which most certainly did make his legitimate policies more difficult.

Yes, in theory it might have been gentlemanly to wait, but as they both say, the book confirms serious concerns about Obama’s actions and words. Naturally, the WP was not going to put that in the headline.

(of course this means Boehner will have the balls to do anything about it, and he clearly doesn’t)

Boehner is doing exactly what he's paid to do: protect the elites.

‘Ya think Gate’s is trying to get somebody’s attention like our Congress? Is this a warning shot across McCain’s bow as well as the Senate? Apparently a lot of the ‘quotes’ from Gate’s book are taken out of context...it is more about the people surrounding the community organizer who are giving him bad advice and he is too _____ to know it.

I guess he doesn’t think the MSM should report the facts during a war either.

Since Gates did not resign and make these events public when they happened, he should not have written this book at all. I expect that Dems have no honor, but I would expect Gates to have had some. By not offering his resignation when Obama, Biden, and Clinton made their statements Gates deliberately chose the dishonorable path for himself and his country.
