A River North sandwich shop fired its 20 employees Sunday night via email.
The firings were effective immediately for the workers at Snarfs Sub Shop at 600 W Chicago

A spokeswoman told the newspaper that the restaurant will likely close for more than a month as it converts into a burger concept.
But the firings come a few weeks after Snarf's workers participated in the "Fight for 15" rally, seeking higher wages. A Facebook post on Dec. 5 striking workers outside the restaurant with the caption, "Snarfs SHUT DOWN! #strike victory!"

I guess they calculated the cost of paying unemployment and figured they could pay it and open a different concept food place and still make money
I wish I lived there. I’d make sure to go to that new place

I like the little scisors on the signs helping them know where to cut it out. Except they didnt. :-D I've been thinking this since I first saw these pictures a few days ago. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why the scissors are on the signs at all. Are we supposed to "coupon" the rally or something?
