Cable is to TV what the dial up is to online access.
We no longer need Cable to see what we want and when we want to.
Streaming TV allows us to dump cable.
Get a Roku or a Smart TV.
Get Netflix for $8.00 and Hulu Plus for $12.
And stations such as METV even stream on local sub channels that you can access for free!
1 30 minute TV show is about 1 GB of data.
Come to think of it, a lot of these “lesser” cable channels get only a few cents a month per subscriber from the cable-sat providers, if these channels were offered online for a quarter or fifty cents a month you would think they’d be able to make a tidy profit.
“Are they in 1080P?”
Some Roku devices are 1080 capable, if the content is HD.
ouch
I can do 10gb a day easy and no extra cost here.
Yikes! I went over my 100GB per month allotment the last two months, and got charged an extra $15 each month. I download a lot of movies, each of which can be as much as 10GB. For you, that would be one movie a month?
We have Roku including Netflix and other “channels,” such as Hulu and Youtube.
Unfortunately, Netflix’s selection is limited, and there’s too much trash on Netflix, too, just like cable. I hope another option comes along soon...
These are all old reruns where is the new stuff?
You must be a young pup. Alan Sherman was big in the early 60s. Here’s the link to a YouTube video...

I wish there was a way for us conservatives to start up TV and movie production, maybe some cheesy ones at first with a streaming channel on ROKU/ChromeCast it could become big.
I watch YouTube on my Roku. It’s been on mine a few years, not sure if I got the link from the forum on Roku’s site or if its in their offers. It pulls in my favorites and ones I’m subscribed to. I use it mostly to watch Red Eye, full episodes are uploaded the same week they air.
If you get Youtube you should try the “James Burke” channel, the shows are old but usually very interesting
That’s what I have. I get anything and everything I want free. Even movies still in the theatre. ;)
There are also Youtube channels with westerns, John Wayne, war movies and horror movies.
You’re late to the party.
The MSM is scared silly as millions have already dumped “TV”, and the exodus is accelerating.
Cable based internet providers are applying monthly data caps, intending to squeeze those trying to escape schedule-driven ad-soaked content.
I haven’t seen but a handful of ads in half a decade. I watch what I want, when I want, cheap. AppleTV rocks.
Paperback.
Project free tv. They have everything on almost immediately.
IF you can get it.
I’ll dig the “last mile” trench myself by hand if they come anywhere close.
Nope, will be 70 on 1/20/14. Just never heard that song. I really enjoy all the songs I am hearing. Had never heard “Dominick the Christmas Donkey” either but it is a good song. I hear “Suzy Snowflafe” a lot. Had not heard that until a few years ago. It is fun listening to Shirley Temple and “Toy Trumpet”. Wish they would play “Christmas on the Line.”. A good western.
Sure ther is if you can hook your tv to a computer. Everything is free if you know where to go. No need to pay for anything.
AppleTV is great for that. Get Netflix for the large catalog, and rent recent stuff from iTunes for $1-6 as needed. Still cheaper.
