Professor: Obama Should Be Allowed to Run for a Third Term

In The Washington Post, Jonathan Zimmerman, a history professor from NYU, has written an article claiming that all of America’s problems would be soloved–GET THIS–if only we would allow Barack Obama to run for a third term!

He wants to amend the Constitution and abolish presidential term limits.

Zimmerman writes that Obama–whose approval rating is at an all time low of 37%–would be much more effective at governing if he could stand for re-election in 2016 because then he’d be less likely to “ignore” the will of the American people. “It’s time to put that power back where it belongs,” he writes. “Barack Obama should be allowed to stand for re election just as citizens should be allowed to vote for — or against — him. Anything less diminishes our leaders and ourselves.”

We don’t know whether to shake our head in disbelief, or burst out laughing.

This professor admits that only a third of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing in office, yet he wants us to believe that we’d be better off if he were able to be president until the year 2020–and beyond?

That’s some strange logic.

Just one week ago, the very same newspaper ran a story predicting that if the 2012 election were held now, Mitt Romney would win the White House, not Obama.

Right now, this country has a serious case of voter’s remorse. Therefore the timing for this call for a potential third Obama term couldn’t be worse.

If we were going to go to the trouble of amending the Constitution, I think more Americans would be interested in adding the power to recall this president than would be interested in giving him a third term.

> My understanding any changes involving the Constitution would forbid him from running again.

Exactly, which is why this professor is complete full of "Democrat platform" (see Reagan joke).

Any change to a term limit will not have an effect on the current incumbent. Period.

The two-term limit set as a result of FDR during Truman's presidency didn't affect Truman, but it affected Eisenhower and later. This professor is so completely ignorant as to boggle the mind.

Professors should have to work construction during the summer, just to learn what real work (as in w = fd) is like and how valuable a worker’s paycheck is to him.

If I could amend the Constitution I’d do the opposite, and give the president one six-year term. Then maybe he’d spend more time fulfilling his responsibilities and less time campaigning. So far it has worked in Mexico and the Philippines.

“THIS IS WHAT PASSES FOR PROFESSORSHIP AT NYU???!?”

Sadly, this is what passes for 99% of the “professorships” in the world. These obsequious turds think that they are so “smart” that the world needs to be forced to “follow” them. The world would be infinitely better off, if we were to put all of them on a deserted island without any means of communication. And that’s about as charitable as I can be. Oh, you might include most of the judges too.

If he could run for a third term, would the Dems be dumb enough to nominate him? Maybe we should stipulate that he can run again.

Our next talking point should be that “he is extremely polarizing, divisive and partisan.”

In that, he is correct. A third Obama term would complete the destruction of America, as it is now known.

Uhhhh no.

In fact, for several of the last 2-termers, 8 years is too much. Clinton fatigue. Bush fatigue. Obama fatigue.

==

Of course, by that writer's logic, a president would still probably ignore the will of the people -- but do so in his 3rd term. Or, extend the logic and let him run for as many terms as he want.

==

Again, no. Two terms are more than enough.

One six-year term and out might even be more preferrable. That way, he wouldn't spend most of his first term fundraising for his second term election.

Another distraction. Let's have all Obamacare, all the time. December 1 is the next important date when the website will be, as promised by HHS, fully operational. Two weeks after that, we will have the enrollment data for November. And December 23 is the last date for sign-up to get insurance effective January 1.

This op-ed by a looney professor is just another smokescreen to talk about something other than Obamacare. It would take a constitutional amendment to change the current rules, so it won't happen any time soon or ever for that matter.

Incredible liberal voters!

Just in case you’re wondering how on earth Obama got elected AND reelected . . .
If what you see on the video at the link below weren’t so disturbing, it would be funny.
I’ve long maintained that a large majority of Democrats/liberals are uninformed fools. This video is PROOF POSITIVE!!!

Let me guess...this guy is one of those rich Jewish professors that votes or Obama despite the the fact that he wants to commit genocide against his own people. I simply do not understand where their blindness comes from. It migh be explained if he’s one of the Iranian Jews that I come across on money laundering cases from time to time...

Why bother? Obama only obeys laws when he agrees with them. If he decided to run, who would stop him? Republicans? Don’t make me laugh.

I think what is intended here is a Constitutional amendment that would be retroactive, and apply to 0bama, and only 0. Probably specify that while each of the first two terms are 4years each, the third is a life term.
