In a move that makes a government shutdown very likely, House Republicans approved a spending plan early Sunday morning that would delay Obamacare for a year and repeal its tax on medical devices.
The temporary budget resolution now goes back to the Senate, where Democrats have consistently said any changes to President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law is a deal-killer.
...
The decision to vote on the House amendments overnight emerged from a rare weekend GOP caucus meeting called by House Speaker John Boehner. The votes, taken after midnight, were 231-192 for the Obamacare delay, and 248-174 for the medical device tax repeal, mostly along party lines.
Two Democrats broke rank and voted for the Obamacare delay: Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, and Jim Matheson of Iowa.
Seventeen Democrats voted for the tax repeal. Meanwhile, a bill to guarantee pay for military personnel during any shutdown passed 423-0.

When the federal government shuts down, it will have abrogated its constitutional duty, thereby enabling the several states of the union to declare their independence and their status will return as independent republics and commonwealths.Let a new constitutional convention be convened. And make sure the left is NOT invited. The federal governments authority should be reduced to matters military and international commerce. The rest is history.
I vigorously second your vision on DeLay and Cruz!
I vote for a 6 week shutdown. Let the country separate.
After all, if the government shutdown occurs, who will spy on me, waste my money, and have contempt for me.
I will take a shutdown before I will take more of the same from the likes of the Kenyan maggot and Moochie, his Muslim czars, and the likes of Reid, Piglosi. Boxer, and the butcher of Benghazi. They need to get out of our lives and our pockets.
Is he some kind of stealth Conservative; all dressed up in Democrat clothing, to disrupt from within??

He doesn't seem to have the right schooling to be a 'real' Mormon...
My 2 TN senators are both R and they could care less what I think too...
Elitist Mormons are all the same. Jim’s biggest problem can be summed up in two words: Mia Love.
She will most likely take him out this time. He is simply trying to appear more conservative as he panders to the Tea Party.
Also, elitist Mormons are mostly mugwumps, sort of like Romney. But you already knew that.
Let’s reset the Federal Government to its size in 1900.
YES!
DEMOCRATS DEFY THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE AGAIN.
My 2 TN senators are both R and they could care less what I think too...
It’s pathetic. We elect them to do what WE want and once they get to DC it’s all over.
Most of these people’s Facebook and Twitter feeds are blowing up with angry citizens saying they don’t want Dumbocare, never did and really don’t want it now that they hear what it’s doing to employment. But they do not care. I wish there was a solution.
most Americans don’t give a damn one way or the other
********
The polls and national election results say otherwise. There is a pretty sharp bifurcation in this country. Essentially the makers vs. the takers. And fundamental demographic and cultural changes are taking place that will further exacerbate things.
At our shocking rate of decline, can you imagine what the country will look like in just three more years? America is broke in more than just the financial sense. Is this the type of environment you want for your children and/or grandchildren?
You’re right. Secession is coming, but it can take several forms and in the future is unlikely to resemble anything like the violent CW split. There are far more sophisticated alternatives and options.
Regards and good luck to all of us.
Time to throw a bit of the Cloward Piven playbook on the Democrats. Hold the line for as long as it takes, even if the shutdown/slowdown lasts through 2014.
This is exactly the fight the Tea Party base of the Republican Party wants, and we would hold the House. That's enough to bring gridlock to Washington DC, and run out the clock on the Obama Administration.
Does anyone really think that Obama wants this for his last 3 years?
Financially, it will be great for reducing the deficit, and we'll find that many governmental agencies are not essential to the country.
They're already talking about doing short-term CR's to fund the federal government, so this is nowhere near Armageddon, despite what the MSM wants us to believe.
Why not just start passing separate CR bills to fund the government. Who says it has to be in a big omnibus? That way when the Senate and/or Obummer don’t sign them then they are taking a specific action to say, No I don’t want to fund the DOD etc...
Suddenly, I love bipartisanship.
;-)
Let Obama, Reid and the other radical anarchist Democrats shut down government if they don’t want to work in a bipartisan fashion.
My suspician is that multi-millionaire Reid, nearing Federal retirement, owns a lot of stock in some companies that are tied to a single payer system.
Maybe the NSA, or the IRS can find out for us?
Im going to ask my US Senator from TEXAS, The Esteemed Senator John To Hell with my voters Cornyn to check on this for me - - - .
Nice summary, and observation on Reid. Always pays to follow the $$$.
Aw,- - - shucks, - - - thanks.
“Defiant House” is a loaded term. I guess if you don’t go along with Obama and the Senate, you are defiant even though the majority of the American people support the House bill?
