Is a cartoon-like college mascot reminiscent of Daniel Boone -- right down to the legendary coonskin cap -- racist, sexist or otherwise offensive?
Officials at the University of Denver seem to think so. They

This author needs an editor who knows a little popular history. Fess Parker did not play Daniel Boone and the Disney series was not about Daniel Boone; it was about Davy Crockett, who was from TN. "American Journalists" have no clue nor interest when it comes to what makes America great, nor the people who made it so. History is just about a bunch of dead white guys, so who cares. They were nothing but oppressors anyway. And they seem to believe that history began at their birth.

So, if Daniel Boone had been a black, muslim, woman,
transexual, professor every thing would have been cool?
Got it.

When I was in grade school, I got to meet Fes Parker at the American Royal in Kansas City. We had a class field trip to the Royal... Imagine if you will, a bunch of suburban kids from a Jewish day school hobnobbing with FFA members, and hanging out with the live stock. As I recall, non of the parents were prepared for the aromas nor clothing stains we brought home that day! Talk about culture shock!

Their goal is to shame Americans into giving up their own national heritage, in order to make it easier for others to displace our culture and laws, and replace it with a new liberal Left identify. Bears repeating, especially for those of college age who whether they know if or not are on the front line.

Great story, thanks for sharing!
Lot’s of fond memories here of Fes Parker when I was a kid in the 60’s, great stuff!
Kids these days don’t know what they are missing.

So, just make the mascot black, and put rainbow stripes on the coonskin tail.
Problem solved.

How come there’s no outrage over the West Virgina University’s mascot: the Mountaineer? Doesn’t that dude wear a coon skin cap? AND, he’s carrying a firearm!

My choice for a new Denver U. mascot would be a blind, deaf, crippled, black dwarf. That ought to make everybody happy. (snicker)

Boone was a polarizing figure that did not reflect the growing diversity of the UD community, but rather was an image that many women, persons of color, international students and faculty members found difficult to relate to as defining the pioneering spirit, Chancellor Robert Coombe said in a March letter to the school community.
________________________________
Well I can tell you someone is out of touch. In this regard, the alumni needs to remind this new “Chancellor” that his community does not refer to itself as UD. In fact, this “diverse” institution actually refers to itself as DU. What a Putz.

"Boone was a polarizing figure that did not reflect the growing diversity of the UD community,"Perhaps not. But isn't the purpose of a meaningful symbol to help preserve your identity in the face of a "growing diversity?" Boone symbolized a force in America, which made today possible. But that may be beyond the ken of this Chancellor.
Let me suggest something further. Consider how the Left uses the term "Diversity". It has become a cultish attack on the actual diversity of Mankind--a compulsion driven attack on what makes each nation unique.
