To tell you the truth, I am sick and damned tired of hearing anything that starts with “First black (anything).”

Who the hell cares? “What difference does it make at this point?”

Yeah, that’s what I want, a crew that I have to wonder if they’re in their position due to affirmative action / gender preference.

Worked so well with the president.

I’m with you. To liberals, a “color blind” society is blind to everything but ‘color’.

i’m just wondering what kind of chance you’re taking to be 3 thousand feet up if they were hired using a low threshold of affirmative action.

Why is it something to celebrate when a black finally masters some job or task that has been routine for others for decades and decades?

Well - we all know why.

But in the Bizarro States of 21st Century America it's not acceptable to ask the question or to answer it.

I’m sick of this crap of the first homo, the first black the first woman.

We used to celebrate being all the same, same language, we’re all American and others wanted that but now the dumb white guilt fools who have no brains celebrate us all being different.
frigging idiots.

I care about getting form one place to another and knowing someone can fly the damn thing, the first black all woman crap only makes lacks want to stay in their community, makes white guilt fools celebrate us being different and in some cases puts us in danger if they’re not qualified.

I’ll loudly second that. I don’t give a rat’s ass about the color or gender. What I want to know is are they proficient, how many flight hours do they have in large aircraft, what is their overall record (accidents, incidents, etc); that they are NOT affirmative action placements.

The fact that this is hyped as it is makes me less likely to consider flying with them because of the reasons indicated above. Too many questions.

Did they put wheel spinners on the landing gear?

You can add, “first female...,” to that, too.

I don’t know what it means.

What is important is what was on the menu for the in flight meal.

What I found interesting is not that they are black or women, in the traditional media role, but that they didn't listen to all the voices that probably told them, "You can't do that, the man won't let you".

For that reason alone I hope they are providing some sort of inspiration to other young folks of any gender or color who may dare to dream beyond the box they were born into. These women represent the exact opposite of the character and class confinement promoted by Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the rest.

Agreed. They have meet the standards for crew. That is the important part. Their color is irrelevant. I would have no qualms riding as a passenger with them.

When I was at the War College we had a high-ranking Black officer as a speaker. He related something his mother told him. There are two Blacks we don't need: the "first" and the "only." I knew what he was getting at, and I think his mother was a wise woman.
